2 AM and something goes

crash during the night last night.
I tend to sleep sound as a rock, but this woke me up.
Thought it was outside at first but couldn't be sure since I was dead asleep.
Looked all over the place last night in the dark, especially outside but nothing.
Then this morning I notice the cabinet door is ajar on the china hutch.
Guess that earth quake was just a little too much for the shelf to withstand and it finally gave.
Wife has yet to see it.
She won't be happy. :(

At least I didn't load up the shelf. :)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1395255708.jpg

The "Did not advise" clause remains. Sigh.

EXACTLY!! she/they can always find away to blame us:rolleyes:

Oh it will be his fault, this much is certain. But that's one less round of ammunition she has available.:p

KevinP73 03-19-2014 12:26 PM

His fault or not I'll bet he has to fix it and then purchase replacements for the lost or damaged artifacts. It's a lose/lose situation. :(

doug_porsche 03-19-2014 03:25 PM

We never said it was your fault, we said we are blaming you:)

Well guys, so far there's not been any 'You did this or you didn't do that'.
I'm looking on the positive side that at least the engraved Waterford pieces I've given her are still intact.
I cleaned up the mess, set the broken pieces on the coffee table, ordered new 3/8" thick tempered shelves (gonna replace BOTH of them) for $100 and am now going to look into finding someone to take the sharp edges off the broken Christmas trees. I think the candlestick holders will be trashed along with the Royal Daulton figurine and Waterford bowl. I may try my hand at gluing the figurine back together.
This piece of furniture will be anchored to the wall too. I just hope it doesn't tear the wall down with the next quake we have.
I don't think she feels the pieces need to be replaced as we aren't in a position to do that unfortunately.

Didn't The Beaver glue the gravy boat back together?

Order has been restored to the china cabinet.
New shelves are in and loaded up, again, not by me, and seem to be holding for now.
