'The Young Racers' Cool film!

I recorded this movie several days ago on TCM but didn't get around to watching it 'till last night. As movies go it's terrible but it has got some wonderful color photography from the 1962 Formula 1 season. Lots of great shots of the 1.5 liter cars from the era.

If you look carefully you can catch a few of the F1 drivers. There is one shot of Joe Bonnier watching the mechanics work on the two Porsche 804 F1 cars - in the grass! No high tech garages. Another shot of mechanics working on a Lotus out of their Hazet Assistent tool cart. The color shots are great and the complete lack of safety in and around the track is an amazing contrast to today. The harbor at Monaco has fishing boats instead of multi million dollar yachts. To go back in time...

I'm going to see of it is on Netflix. A great peek at yesteryear.
