Oldest DD

That I am aware of is a 1950 Studebaker. A fellow in a small town south of where I live drives it every day, rain or shine.

In 1968, I had a 1952 Ford Mainline 2 Dr sedan for a DD. It had a flathead V8 and 3 speed w/overdrive. I drove that car from 1965 thru 1968 when I traded it for a 1964 Triumph Spitfire. But that's another long story.

In '67 I got my first car, a '54 Ford Prefect,1172cc sidevalve, 3 speed trans, vacuum wipers(cost my Dad £30) and it was my daily driver for maybe a year before I sold it for £60.

I daily drove a 1966 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow everywhere, parked it on the street year round, blah blah. After it was totaled in an accident, I used the insurance money to get a 944 and 928 to match my 1983 911. But I wasn't the champ then - someone else was driving a flat black Checker Marathon.

Currently, the champ is someone on my street that drives a 1950s Bel Air the same way - it's parked on a Chicago street year round, but the sucker starts up every day and off they go to work. The owner is a 20-something woman, works as a barista at Starbucks, who likes it because it's roomy (it's full of junk) and colorful (it's white/turquoise and rust). There's a 20-something guy in the area that dailies a Corvair convertible, rattle-can paint and the interior looks like he keeps a wolverine in it, but it runs.

When I was growing up my family's only car was a 66 Ford Custom from 1966 through 1980. It remained our second car and still driven daily until 1983 when the frame finally rusted through and there was nothing my father could do to resurrect it. It had just under 200,000 on the odometer and the trunk was so baldy rusted that you could see the road. For years you had to be careful where you put stuff in the trunk so it didn't fall through.

not sure if this counts but here goes
in 1989 my DD was a 1970 Challenger RT 426 Hemi 4 speed
I never knew what it would be worth today but I'm glad I still have it

My DD in 1973 was a 1958 VW Bug. That fifteen year gap is the largest for me in DD's

I gave my 1991 Toyota truck to the son of friend of mine when we was a junior in HS. He is now an Ensign in the Navy in flight school in Corpus Christi and still DD's it. He loves the thing.

My son has my 2000 Tacoma in college and I bet he DD's the thing through his first tour in the Army when he graduates. He loves the thing.

Right now and for the last 22 years my daily driver is a 1986 El Camino. 326,000 miles and still going. I have no intention of changing to a different DD.

As I mentioned my brother right now is using a 1954 VW bug as his DD and he has been driving it since 1978. That is a 60 year old car as a DD. Winter and summer, the same car.

Sammyg2 - Great story about your grandfather!

My grandfather kept his old Model A pickup (and drove it as long as he could) until ~1990. Failing eyesight made him give it up.

My mom drove her '66 Coronet (with the 383) as her daily until ~2004. My dad bought that brand new in early '66. (It's still in her garage if anyone is interested - PM me.)

My dad's 83 El Camino is running just over 450k miles.

I kept my '76 Audi Fox as my daily driver until ~2005.

Around 1994, my friends daily driver was a 1951 Buick Special. Straight 8, smooth as a pillow.
