F80 / 82 anyone?

Anyone else have money down on an F80 or F82? I've been assured by my dealer I'll get one of his allotted this year. I was targeting European delivery in September...

Anyone else?

MRM 03-25-2014 05:44 PM

I ordered matching his and hers but the $%^& dealer would only give me one. I told him if he wouldn't sell me one for my wife too I wasn't going buy one for me.

I don't think the F-80 or F-82 is in production any more.

Ducman, these old antiques think the F80 is a plane.

He's talking about the new M3 / M4:

I have to admit, I first thought of the P-80 Shooting Star when I saw the title. After reading the first post I slowly came to remember that it was a BMW code.

And I'm 23...

Lease these things. DONT buy one. They are appliances now.

Thought about it.....but I'd need to drive it first. I'm just not that excited about the motor.....

I hope the driveline is sublime and think the sedan looks yards better than the coupe.

onewhippedpuppy 03-26-2014 05:21 AM

More tech, more isolation, less reliable. BMW has jumped the shark, and Audi is what BMW was 15 years ago. I lost all interest in the brand when they started piping fake engine noise through the speakers in the M5. Wrong on so many levels.......

Bayerischer Mist Wagen...

pavulon 03-26-2014 05:55 AM

I dunno...I think every auto manufacturer has committed sins. This car is 430 hp and 3300lbs and can be had with a 6 speed manual (for those that can't stomach a faster car with 2 pedals). I'm hoping for inline 6 greatness and can't understand wanting it to be another crummy car.

I dunno, we've got an F30 sedan and while it is very different from the E39 and E90 we had, it's still a really nice car with terrific power and reflexes. I think we'll stick with the brand, at least for now.

Must confess that my first thought upon seeing the thread title was an FJ80:

Then I read his post and realized my misunderstanding.

Yes

onewhippedpuppy 03-26-2014 03:06 PM

I would buy an FJ80 over an F80 all day long.

Depends - M3 is my daily driver, I'm not looking to replace my 911. I must have 4 doors and a real back seat. In relative terms a newer 911 could be considered more off its heritage than the M3 versus it's original. I agree with the fake noise stuff but you just can not buy a more sporting sedan for 75k. Audi is nowhere near (in sedan). And in many ways you can't get it by spending more either.....they just get bigger but not really sportier. I think your feelings are correct but it's really about the nature of autos overall and what most consumers want....all brands.

How many miles on your M3?

I'll have 34k on it when lease is up in fall.

The crowd over on Bimmerpost are completely besides themselves....they've been waiting for the new one for months already. They've got months yet to go before the first customer cars are shipping and BMW NA is being very stingy with new info. They post for weeks on a single spy photo captured of an auto show car being loaded on a hauler.

Of course I read all of their posts every day:confused:

I do seem to see a fair amount of folks over there that also have or have had Porsches....not so much the older 911s but certainly later model cars.
