What to do in Denver

I will be in Denver from the evening of April 27th-the morning of April 30th. I have a class/conference for Profibus training and troubleshooting. Truly exiting stuff....

Profibus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'll have a little time to kill in the evenings. I'm going with two other technicians, but I'm not really interested in hanging out at the hotel like they are. What should I do while I visit? Anywhere I shouldn't go?

If you have to ask what to do in Colorado, you probably don't do it. Have fun.

Well, if you are referencing the recent legalization of marijuana bear in mind that I live in Washington state. You know the OTHER legal state, and I work in the aviation industry where such things are frowned upon. Was hoping for a cool place to hear some music, eat good food....

Ding dong ditch Gogar's house? Maybe toss some TP in his trees?

I hear TP in His Trees is playing Coachella this year.

Since you're likely downtown might want to have dinner at the Chophouse. Funny I spend half my time in Denver and I can't think of anything good to do.

I would say drive up in the mountains, but if you only have evenings that probably won't happen. Maybe catch a Rockies game?

If you are staying downtown, there are a couple hundred restaurants from national chains to local. Probably 25 micro breweries in or very near downtown. Jump on one of the red city bikes and take on a downtown tour.
Probably a Rockies, Avs or Nuggets game sometime.

If you like bikes, erico is a neat shop on the north side of town. there is also a motorcycle museum right by there, too.

also, a trip to Denver wouldn't be complete without going to Casa Bonita. (wouldn't eat dinner there though)

Great suggestions, thank you!

Don't know if you're interested in the natural history & science kind of thing, but Denver has their museum located in the city park. When my family visited relatives there as a kid, I always had them drop me off there for a day of wandering and looking. I was fascinated by the exhibits of wild life, history, gems & minerals, and fossils. No doubt it's much improved since then. If I go to Denver sometime, I'll certainly visit it again.

That's exactly up my alley! Sounds like one I can't miss. I'll do that before dinner one evening.

Right now some of the museum is under construction, so a bit is closed off. Secondly they are hosting the "Mythbusters" show, but that costs extra. However you can see the 928 that they did sitting in the cafeteria.

Two restaurants we enjoy are Il Posto (northern Italian) and Izakaya Den. May check them out

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm looking forward to it. I've never been to Denver outside of the airport.

If you can catch a show at Red Rocks, that would be a hoot! Lots of hiking - Red Rocks is one of my favorites, nice views, pretty trails etc, couple of hikes in Boulder, etc., depending on where you are staying. I'm not local, but I'm sure anyone who is could direct you to something near your area. In Denver, people play OUTSIDE.

Buckhorn Exchange restaurant. Liquor License No. 1 in colorado. Went there with Gogar and a few others a couple of years ago. Excellent place, but a little pricey.
