The only thing my dogs killed was trash they pulled from the Burger King dumpster down the block when they would get out of the yard... and avocados off the tree in the backyard, skin and all... I would find the pits laying around the yard and couldn't figure out what was happening until I found a half eaten one.

We currently have three fat, lazy, spoiled rotten city cats, but they can take down a month! Being seasoned cat owners we know that store bought cat toys are a waste of time and money... cats are much more amused by a crumped up piece of paper or foil, a twist tie, an empty cardboard box, etc.
However my wife can't resist an impulse buy when she goes to the pet store, we have agreed to a no toys with feathers rule because they make a huge mess.
So imagine my surprise when I get home from work and there are feathers on the floor and I'm thinking "oh honey it is bad enough you buy them toys but we agreed to no feathers!" I follow the trial of feathers to the bedroom where there is a small oval object on the floor... I go to pick it up but notice down on the floor around it... I turn on the light and look closer, yep, a bird. My wife was not home so I disposed of the body and vacuumed up the feathers. Mums the word. ;)

One of their danes found an caught a squirrel in the back yard. Proudly attempting to show off their kill, the dog brought it in the house. Into the master bedroom. And got up on the bed. The other dane feeling a need to be part of the action, stepped up on the bed too and engaged in a short but furious tug-a-war over the freshly killed squirrel. Well it was not long before the squirrel was in pieces all over the bed and floor and walls. The dogs were pretty happy though.

My cat keeps rodent populations under control. He catches & eats rabbits almost as big as he is.

years ago, i had a female miniature dachshund that spent most of her outside time hunting and catching snakes! it was not uncommon to see her dragging a prize about the backyard areas. unfortunately as she got older and slower and with diminished eyesight she was not as effective. she was struck by a small copperhead but with vets care she survived. a few weeks later i came home from work and heard our larger dog barking out several hundred feet from the house. i knew what it was so went to check! poor little sasha...struck right behind the ear by the largest and most beautiful copperhead i had ever seen. sasha was gone...snake probably weighed more than she did! i killed the copperhead and shed a tear or two for one of my best little friends!

I grew up with a fat black lab. The only thing he'd catch and bring to us was frozen, still in butcher's wrap steaks, roasts and poke chops. Never did figure out from which neighbors he got 'em from.

My lab eats avocados too and chases squirrels but has yet to catch one. There is a squirrel that frequents our yard who is clearly not afraid of her...

Tank eats 15-20 avocados a day. Been doing it for seven years. The vet says his physical condition is closer to a three year-old dog. Have at it Brotha!

Yeah, the pits and skin are supposed to be bad for them but short of cutting down the tree I couldn't stop her and I'm not cutting down the tree. She doesn't eat the pits.
