Zombies: Inquiring minds want to know?

American Zombies (Walking Dead, Night of the Living Dead, etc.) all appear to be these "walkers" that trudge around snarling and don't have enough brains left to figure out how to open a door.

The British / European zombies ( 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later) are these raging, maniacal, screaming beings that seemingly can chase down Cheetahs.

What's the deal? Different virus or ??

It really doesn't make sense that as a dead rotting corpse, one's physical abilities would increase.

Artistic license. Since there is not a factual zombie, directors can have them be however they want.

I liked the 28 Days/Weeks Later movies. Different take on the situation.

Yeah, the zombies in World War Z were really fast also! Hopefully when the real apocalypse comes they'll be the slow witted dullards like in Walking Dead :).

sand_man 04-11-2014 06:02 AM

I always thought the British twist on the zombie theme was/is more scary; that fast moving thing is much more threatening than the slowly approaching Frankenstein/Neanderthal (typical American version).

sand_man 04-11-2014 06:03 AM

Not sure if you'd call them zombies, but those things in "I am Legend" were also freaky!

Zombies and vampires are all make believe!:p

I was watching one dumb show and they had a vampire that loved to eat garlic on his food and he said vampires actually love garlic. And he liked to go get a suntan.

Everyone knows real zombies can actually FLY! They don't need to walk.

Say what?:D

I think the zombies in that movie with Will Smith (I Am Legend) are just too scary to think about.

Who keeps cutting the grass? Every zombie tv show/movie the grass is always neatly cut.

All the zombie movies have it wrong. People are running from the zombies. I would intentionally become a zombie as they have much more fun.

Oh contraire: The 2012 elections proved that the US is full of brain dead Zombis with Obama phones roaming the streets for government cheese.

They can't be eating brains all the time, even zombies need hobbies.
For some it's horticulture.

Zombies are real but they are better know as those people that use bath salts.. brain dead person + bath salts = flesh eaters (Zombie)
Steve the other half of Angela

Good point. I hadn't thought of that.

Plus I wouldn't want to be the zombie that gets blasted in the face with the shotgun. It's more the chasing terrified individuals  that appeals to me.

Read the book man. In the book they were actually vampires.

Better schools.

In American zombie stories I think the virus is usually some kind of mutated rabies. Maybe the virus is something else in eu.
