Nice bus, but I would never buy one. I grew up around these as work vehicles, not lifestyle vans, so I don't see the attraction. Also have a buddy that almost was killed in one ...

IIRC an little older one just as nice sold at auction for $198K.

IMO many are over restored. For some reason this one just works for me - it's gorgeous.

But my favorites are survivors!

Wow Byron, that could be me. I spent many happy hours in my 1960 VW bus. Boy the stories I could tell.

So many other rear engined air cooled cars I'd buy for that price first.

Can we buy it as a group like an old airplane? Keep it in SoCal? :)

I'll volunteer my garage.

They are fun, cute cars... but my buddy lost his leg in a crash... thus we will never own one (wife LOVES them).

And yeah... for $85K I could have a 996 turbo for the weekend and a Prius (I know :rolleyes:) to commute to work.

I know of a garage sitting empty in Laguna beach.... ;)

They are cool, until you drive one. They handle like a bus!

The bus can sleep outside. I'll have the garage.

It reminds me of my old Kombie. Other than having no brakes it was an excellent vehicle.

A bud of mine is into old VW buesse.

He had a rusted hulk of a 21 window. Bought it for 18000. I thought he was nuts.
Sold it within 10 days for $28000.
A guy in Germany had offered him $36000.
Incredible the prices on old split window buesse.
