Jeep Gladiator feeler..

Well, my friend wants to sell his Jeep.

I got it running again, had to replace the fuel pump and rebuild the carb. Runs really well, custom dual stainless exhaust, 180lbs on all cylinders.

What would something like this be worth as a project? It needs a few things but isnt a major project. A little light surface rust in some places.

He'd be happy to get $5K for it.

Annoying... Hagerty does not list Jeep as an option on their classic car values calculator. You didn't say the year... Guessing 1965-67?

I love it! At first the '55 Chevy hood ornament didn't stand out.

Man, the potential in that old thing...

Is it a J10 or J20 ? Looks to be in very good original shape. Good heavy duty front/rear axles in them. It looks like it's missing some small items like front turn signals and back up lights. Is the motor a 304 , 360 or 401 ? Manual or automatic ? I say offer him 4500.00 that would be a great project. Get yourself a vintage truck camper or trailer and you have one fine camping rig. Let us know what you end up doing.

I'm not interested, but figured you guys would know what its worth. He needs cash quick. I got the Jeep running well for him as a favor. Thing is SOLID. The badges on the side say J2000

The good..

1955 Chevy hood ornament.
70's AMC 360 V8 and AMC transmission (how do I tell what it is?)
Good compression. 180ish on all cylinders.
Really nice huge aluminum radiator
Dual stainless exhaust from the manifolds back (Sounds awesome).
Mallory HEI distributor.
Possible performance cam.
New Painless Wiring harness installed.
Custom dash insert with Autometer speedo and quad gauge.
80's Jeep steering wheel and column with tilt.
New Warn front hub locks
Custom diamond plate rear bumper with a beefy trailer hitch.
Old school rifle racks on the rear window.

The bad..

Single circuit drum brakes
Needs paint
Needs a fuel tank.
Some minor wiring still needs to be done, turn signals, etc..
Seat needs to be recovered.
Needs new carpets/rubber mats?
Wipers are vacuum operated, dont work even with a vacuum pump.

If the wiring was done I'll hold out for $5000. With the wiring still to be finished - $4000.
I believe the electric wiper motor is the black box in the upper right.

Since it has a Chrysler engine, it may have a 727, but since it is 4 wheel drive, I'm betting TH400. Take a picture of the tranny pan and match it up here:

http://www.teufert.net/trans/trannyid.pdf

Along with the other goodies, it has power steering, new battery, and the missing trim and other pieces are fairly easily sourced. How is the body? Have you run a magnet around the fenders, quarter panels, rockers, etc.? Great project!

I cant find any evidence of Bondo. The underside looks good too. Looks like the motor mounts were changed recently.

Take paint off the to-do list.

Killer old truck.

You're too far away, dammit.
