Interesting they call it a GTI. In that layout it should be called a Sirrocco or Corrado. GTI is more hot hatch in my mind.

Much of he "hatch" look is actually the result of the C-pliiar, the red concept embraces this idea.

I've edited the images to get the point across, but some may still favor a traditional hatch, and I sincerely doubt the red illustration is nothing more than an exercise intended to inspire.

I had an 1986 Diesel Golf for 4-1/2 years (bought new), and I got 50 mpg while on vacation (secondary highway in Canada).

Typical mileage was in the low 40's if I can recall that far back.
