Working in Sandston, VA for a couple of days

I'll be in Sandston, VA for a couple of days early next week, flying in Sunday. Anything interesting/good to do close by? Working until about 5 PM.

Cheers!

It's Sandston, there is nothing there. The better question is what to do in Richmond. I don't know I live in Jax

Yeah, what Dave said. But there's a ton to do in Richmond; the place is full of Civil War history, the VMFA is well worth the time, even if you're not into art (we have one of the largest collections of Faberge eggs). Try the BBQ and compare to TX BBQ (which, honestly I prefer); Buz and Ned's beat Bobby Flay. That's off the top of my head; I might think of more later. Any of those things sound interesting?

Some interesting stuff! Would like to get out to the battlefields but doubt time will allow. Same with museum. Yep, stuck in Sandston most of the day, how could it get any better...

Ugh, my heart goes out to you. Sandston is the red headed step child of Richmond suburbs and there's nothing there. Oh, except Country Style Donuts, which are the only halfway decent ones I've ever found outside PA Dutch Country.

What on earth are you going to be doing in Sandston? There's a small aeronautical museum on the airport grounds. They have an SR71(!). Ditto on Country Style Donuts. You're not going to believe this, but I actually live in Sandston. Shoot me a pm. We could at least grab some dinner at one of the small handful of restaurants in the area. It'll give me an excuse to take the Carerra out for a spin!

Check out Richmond.com: Richmond, Virginia entertainment, restaurants, events, arts and shopping to give you some idea. Lately, I've been hooked on going by "Steak 'n Shake" which isn't too far from the airport. I ate at Buz 'n Neds - BBQ was good, but not really anything to write home bout, however the fried okra and pickles were probably the best I've eaten before. I really liked a little place called 'The Black Sheep' - HUGE sandwiches, albeit a little pricey, but really meant as a meal for two people. I gather that the owner is a transplant from Louisiana (like me). Picture of said sandwich below. Sorry for the picture quality and it's a little hard to tell but that's a full size baguette (~18"-20", maybe a little more?)
