I find that any time I "step up" and don't buy the cheep one it gets scratched. My cheep timex looks new. My brieghtling that I never wear scratched, I have several pairs if exspensive sunglasses all scratched, target glasses that get kicked around in my truck nothing nada scratch. The day I bought my tundra someone hit at the gas station.

I used to like Oakleys. They had great frame materials and scratch resistant, polarized lenses. A few years ago my wife (then girlfriend) buys me a pair. Flimsy hinges, easy-to-scratch frames and lenses. Of course, they offer a warranty on the frame for damage but the lenses scratch if you rub them with a kleenex.

$5 glasses from the fair. Dropped a few times, rubbed with abrasive surfaces, and they keep going. Not sure how Oakley can justify the price of $129-$200 for a pair of glasses that get beat out by something for 1/20th the price. Unless of course, they are made to even lower quality.

Oakley is surviving on the name and the douchey styles they now sell.

I wore Oakleys in the early/mid 90's. Full frame jobbies. After the sun went down and I flipped them up on top of my head, occasionally they would fall off. I'm not that tall, but they'd hit the ground and the frame would pop. Finally went with Ray Ban.

A couple of months ago, night before an autocross, I discovered my trusty Ray Bans, with chipped, but good glass lenses, shattered. One lens. Ran off to the mall and settled on a plastic Oakley frame/lenses... So far, so good... Even when cleaning the lenses with my t-shirts.

Most of the major brands of sunglasses sold these days are made by just one company. Name and quality do not always go hand in hand.

Like A wires. A lot of the new styles I'm not crazy about. I wear Maui Jims now for the most part - the clarity an overall feel is a little better I think.

The amount I spend on glasses is directly proportional to the likelihood of me dropping them on concrete.

I used to always wear Oakleys, but now every pair they make has a ridiculous angular look that I can't stand.

Gah! Ordered new lenses. Snapped them in with zero issues. Oooh'd and aaah'd at the new clarity... And whoosh! I think they blew off the top of my head while standing on a bridge.

Some days I think I ran over someone important's dog in another life.

I've got 3 pair of Oakleys. Love the frames, hate the lens. Every pair I have has scratches. I replaced the lenses on my original straight jackets. My polarized jackets I didn't replace and my new Offshoots have one slight scratch. But yeah, when you pay $150 for a pair of glasses, they damn well should warranty the lenses.

BTW, I really miss the "unobtanium" on the arms that kept the glasses on your head without the need for straps.

I have Oakley Radars that have been abused to hell. Stepped on a few of times, sat on, lost outside for 3+ months during the winter. They still fit nice and snug to my head. Have a few different lenses for biking, golfing, driving...etc. They are all not scratched at all. They are all at least 4+ years old and not treated real nice.

I usually am cleaning them with my shirt when I'm wearing them, nothing special.

Are you buying real Oakley lenses?

I'm still most partial to my Vuarnet's and the great clarity and toughness of their lenses and frames for everyday wear.

yeah. real oakley lenses from the warranty dept. cost me $37 IIRC.

i will miss those. they were the Pitbulls. i like how the sides of my eyes were shaded.

i just got a new pair. dont know what they are..a tad more blingy...but whatever.

I've tried expensive glasses and for some reason I eff up the lenses, lose them in the river or forget them in a bar. Never fails.

I order these on Amazon. Well made, hug the noggin tight so they don't fall off and have the mirrored lenses so no one knows you're checking out the chicks.

Have Oakleys, scratched to piss now. Maui Jim's are the best, cost more, but somewhat dated styling. Maquis rule on the ocean, though. No comparison.

I returned them. Fit wasn't there.
