fiat experts. ...70 600
I have a good customer with a 1970 Fiat 600 which I'm bringing back to life.
It needs a fuel tank, we and the customer have been searching for months to source an oem or equivelent fuel tank. Even in Europe and are having zero luck. Websites post they have one. .... But no. ... There are none. .... Just a bunch of empty leads. Talked to the major Fiat players/dismantled etc..... Nothing. The car is all original so we want to avoid using a fuel cell. ... Anyone have any ideas? Or a source for someone who can cut open and restore the internally rusted tank? With the epa it seems no one does this anymore. .... Thanks |

Does the tank have a bunch of holes in it or something? If so, have them welded. After that, or if not, throw a crapload of pea-gravel size rocks in there and go to town. Of course, if there's a bunch of goop in there then it'll have to be disposed of first. I would try that before I cut the tank open.

Knowing that car, it was a cheap throwaway. I doubt Fiat put a lot of money into the tank design.
Radiator guys are pretty good fabricators and prolly make a copy or know someone who can.

What about having it dipped? I have not done it in a while, but they used to coat the inside, and outside with epoxy, or something of that sort. It did not look perfect oem, but they used to guarantee them for life. I remember that it would also fill small holes. I had several done like this a few years back. I just used our local radiator shops for this service.

Outside of the tank is perfect, no holes, shiny paint...
The inside of the tank looks like the surface of the moon, heavy heavy rust...... I'll check into those cl ads..... |

If the tank is intact, the radiator guys are the one to take it to.

try Fiat Parts & Supplies
Obert has a ton of parts. i buy parts from him or from scuderia topolino, i have a 1000TC that shares mostly parts with a 600, actually my car is a glorified 600. otherwise try italian or german ebay, bought quite a bit there as well good luck

Take it to a radiator shop. They can clean it or whatever and coat the inside. I had that done to the original tank on my 70 for $85. Looks like new in and out. Works too.

Ok the tank pictured isn't like the one in the car. .... my service manager had been searching and what we are finding is the tank required is for a 500... even though the car is a 600.
Here's the tank/car. ... All our local radiator shops won't touch it. ..... I'm probably going to fill out with water, cut it open, bead blast it, then have it re welded by a pro. ..... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Here's a company that repairs gas tanks. They repaired my sc tank 5 years ago. Shipping from Florida to Toronto would probably cost a fortune but here's their link if you can't find another source.

Hey, cool! A Dutch license plate and it can still be found in the Dutch registration system.
![]() ![]() Looks like an original Dutch registration, first registration 6 May 1971 A buddy has 2 600D's he orders his parts here; https://nl.fiat600ricambi.com/ They also have a fuel tank; (sorry, in Dutch.. if you need help let me know) https://nl.fiat600ricambi.com/fiat600/Brandstofvoorziening/BV1125 Edit, you can switch language to English on the parts site..
