That's what I was originally told, but reading the Wiki article on Dvorak, it seems they might have been developed later...

About 60 wpm, but with a lot of mistakes. I do use DVORAK layout, but not so much for speed as it is comfort. I've got big hands and QWERTY gets me all tangled up...

Yes. Dvorak was an efficiency engineer that re-designed as the technology improved.

I've also converted to Dvorak. I've been converted for about 11-12 years now. I also converted for comfort instead of speed. I think I type in the 65-75 wpm range with very few mistakes. I think I am a bit faster now than I was but mostly because now I'm 100% touch typist and before I spent a lot of time looking at the keys.

sheesh, you guys are fast. i got 50 WPM. i sit at a keyboard all day, too.

I can type 200 words per minute.......in my own language.

Ran it again, just to see. Some days I'm faster and cleaner than others. I could probably push this a couple more if I were having a good day.

My wife, on the other hand, is easily over 100 using QWERTY... but she had a customer service job for a while which was all by e-mail so she got pretty fast.
