Hardwood Floors

Anyone know of a resource where you can find reviews on specific brands of engineered hardwood floors? I'm looking at Provenza UV Cured Maple floors and am trying to get comfortable with their quality and longer term wear properties.

Where are you getting this floor from? Many retail stores change the names so you can't compare.
Chinese product? Check the top layer of maple. Is it thick or thin? How many plies below the wear layer? P.m me if you like as my wife is in the business and she might know about this product.

House we bought about 8 yrs ago has prefinished wood floors.

IMO they don't compare in any way to finished in place wood floors.

Looks are a huge consideration but also ease of cleaning. The bevels not only look bad but hold liquids and dirt.

Also, and I'm not sure on this, it seems the bevel would preclude light refinishing in the future or would at least make it a more difficult process.

You can get pre-finished engineered flooring that is not beveled.

We have finished in place hand scraped wood flooring. Bizarre concept, install nice hardwood floors then beat the crap out of them with chisels.

It's considered an upgrade in TX homes.

Was not going to have it done but the realtor convinced us that it was good for resale down the road.

PIA to clean and good luck if you need to replace a section like my next door neighbor.

He had a small coupla sq ft section get damaged by a water leak, tried 3 different companies who said they could match, eventually he ended up redoing the entire room.
