In honour of this hero cat...........I gave my 2 kiddles, "Banjo" and "Tucker", full blown luxurious flea combings......while they lounged on the targa top atop the teener. :) |

Cats can be seriously bad arse. With a domestic dog its one thing but I have yet to see a cat stand up to a Coyote. |
|
A coyote would eat a cat plenty quick if it were hungry enough, so would a raccoon. |

Their higher intelligence and fight ability has been bred out on purpose so they are more manageable but that instinct of being a Protective Mother is still there as evident in the video. A Coyote or Raccoon on the other hand is a wild animal that has evolved naturally over a very long time so it's fully equipped as a fighter and survivor. Not exactly a fair match ;) |

I'm not a cat guy, but damn. I like that cat. I love dogs but damn, I hate that dog. Cats are impressive when they want to be. |
|
I think there might have been a little bit of guardian angle in that kitty :) |

When I was a kid living on base there was a pair of Siamese cats that roamed as a pair and picked on dogs. Pets were not supposed to roam free at all. The dogs were in their own fenced yards and the cats would go on patrol and killed a few small dogs. The base commander already told the owner of the cats to remove them from base. I was walking our family bulldog and the Siamese cats thought they would go for him. He killed one in seconds and the other lost its tail. The family had that remaining car removed from base. |

Did I miss something? I might not be the sharpest guy out there, but I'm not seeing anything "obtuse" about a cat guarding his/her person  |

One bad ass cat I think it was a play on the misspelled word "angle" (like acute, right or obtuse angle...) That cat is awesome. I'm sure the dog's owner is claiming victim - his little angel never hurts anyone, blah blah blah... Way too many a-hole dog owners out there. Cats don't have owners. ;) Definitely true about mama cats - very protective. Both I've had have proven fiercely protective of me, even against other cats more than twice their size. They get respect. |

neither of my cats would have stepped up to that dog. i LOVE that cat!!! if i was there, i would buy it an entire tuna or something. |

Here's my BA cat, he chased off a big dog from our back yard once and we never have rats, mice or sadly bunnies in our yard either.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1400182514.jpg |

After four cats I'm quite burnt out on them. None of them would have ever done anything other than piss themselves (or my shoes) in that kind of situation. I know for a fact our GSD (may she RIP) would have torn that attacker a new one. Mostly because she always jumped other dogs just on principle. |

 And two cats vs coyote are better than one: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/SRv3P7sGkf0?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Never know about animals! "Its just a little bunny" http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pse69cf7c1.jpg |

Saw that on the news last night .Amazing. The little boy was not very old and we don't know how long the cat was in the family but amazing that the cat defended who it knew was family to it . Shows the strong bond between animal and human can happen in a short amount of time. |

He's got the name Hero Cat now and will be on the cover of Cat fanciers(think that's the name)magazine Also will be receiving an award from another prestigious cat club and is being bombarded with gifts from all over . The cat has been with the child since birth and even slept in the crib with him so that's the bond. After it chases away the dog it turns around and goes back to check on the boy, |

I wouldn't be surprised if it's already been discussed. |

Could it be that the cat attacked the dog for territorial reasons only? Mine does that. |
|
News mentioned the boy is autistic. All the more touching. |

 What about cat vs (young) bear: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/57VbE0J9niw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

I saw this on the news this morning. First thought was DAMN! I couldn't believe even when the dog took off, the cat chased for a short distance. I have never been a fan of cats that I like that cat. Attitude, that's what it's all about. |

that dog is a complete A-hole, I wonder if he has been abused or something. That is an impressive pussy though. I always like to watch cats, though I don't think they make as good pets as dogs typically. |
|
Totally disagree. While I generally like dogs I could never deal with owning one - you need to totally revolve your life around their pooping schedule whereas cats are independent, clean and easily litterbox-trained (or toilet trained). I like how cats are typically sassy, smart, independent (yet still affectionate and friendly), clean and clever. By contrast most dogs seem to see the entire world as something to be either crapped upon, eaten, slobbered upon or humped. I guess I'm just more of a cat person by nature but I definitely think they are "better" pets in the sense that they're far easier to care for and can be very useful to have around (no mice or rodents in this house!). Your mileage may vary. |
