Holy cr/p! I'm not feeling the whole "polar vortex" thing this winter was so bad after all....

Same shot this morning as the one I posted last evening looking NW toward the fire area. I can smell smoke from where I am. These are small compared to the 2003 Cedar fire which burned 290K acres, destroyed 1,500 structures, and killed 17 people. Not to take away from the seriousness of the present situation, since catastrophes like this are all bad.

Two suspected arsonists were taken into custody. The last place, Kit Carson Park, is just down the hill from our home. If found guilty I hope the punishment is memorable with many thousands of hours of community work.

If you call jail "community service", then maybe 50,000 hours worth . . . Arson is not punished with community service.

Community service is better for the community. Make it far less desirable than jail

I think burning at the stake is acceptable in this case... They do like fire.

It is incredible the size of the balls on some those pilots dropping that retardant crap. Did you see the tornado of fire video? How would flying anywhere near that be? I could not tell you, and would not much want to find out.

Remember that helicopter filling up from someone's swimming pool footage? Imagine what does not get recorded. A buddy and I watched those guys doing there thing from a fire lookout tower we were not supposed to be on one time. They had older, smaller planes, DC3 maybe. One guy flew by close enough to see him shake his finger at us, so we figured we better leave.

Speaking of balls, they should be cutting them off those kids that set those fires. Don't want them breeding.
