I had been thinking about a Cayman to replace my 2001 Boxster base. The latter has been good in snow but the Cayman will be the same if too much snow then you are going to have to park it or else you become a snow plough. Good snow tires are essential for up to about 3 inches of snow and even then drifts can pound away at the underside of the car.
If you buy a CPO Cayman ask how many years left on the warranty.Niggling problems on my 2001 Boxster are starting to become annoying. Perhaps it is my age but there is a lot to be said for having something bigger, being able to throw my bike in the back, being able to take two sets of golf clubs and two passengers at the same time and being reliable and economical in terms of repairs. The latter is more about me but focusing on you the Cayman is not great for one car DD year round. It sounds like you need a beater for the winter or else you could get stuck in heavy snow in a Cayman. Guy. |
In Jan. of this year I picked up a 2002 Boxster S as my daily driver I also have a 1983 911SC coupe, Toyota RAV4 for the wife/family and a GMC dually so a vastly different fleet :D. I absolutely love the Boxster for a daily driver. It is quick, nimble, comfortable and handles like a slot car. Engine makes nice noise behind your head and good on gas if you can keep your foot out of it what's not to love ? Great modern safety/comfort systems it's a win/win as far as I'm concerned.

If it was just me, no wife or kids to haul around, I'd get a Boxster. Cayman will be second.
I like the Mini to drive occasionally but not to own. But that's just me. |
