any tin boat owners on here ?

Starting to get the itch again for a relatively cheap boat. Two years ago I bought/restored a 13 ' Boston Whaler and had a ball with it. But I need something a little bigger so I sold the Whaler and I'm entertaining the idea of getting a 16 - 18 foot aluminum V hull. Just something used can be tiller or console steer. There's a Lund near me that's in the running along with a Sea Nymph and a few others. Use would be freshwater only on local lakes. Use would be fishing/pleasure I'm looking for low maintenance. So what tin boats do you have ? How do you like them ? Is a 16 - 18 a decent performer with a 50-60 hp outboard ? For the price range I am looking at it will be a riveted hull. Any advice is appreciated.

Yeah both Lund and Starcraft seem to have a cult like following I guess they have earned their reputations. I have not ruled out getting a 17 ' Whaler but the thought of a tin boat being hauled behind my 1968 Avion ( aluminum ) truck camper is appealing . It's all about style .

Dave nice boat I see you are in the thousand island area of N.Y. When I was a kid we spent many good times at Wellsley ( sp ? ) island state park which if I remember correctly is the last state park before going over the bridge to Canada. Had some great bass fishing from what I remember. Back then we had a 12 ' Sears Gamefisher fiberglass boat with a 9.9 Evinrude we were able to get back in the thick weeds and nail some pretty large fish !

used MonArk boats a lot years ago. They changed their name to SeaArk boats. Held up well in salt water. we added the oil injection system so we didn't have to mix the oil and gas in the tanks for the outboards. they seemed to have a good line of models for a variety of uses. don't know the coast though.
