Cayenne testing in AZ

Noticed a bunch of test Cayenne's parked in the back 40 at my AZ hotel yesterday, the lobby bar was full of engineers. Looks like they had a fun day. The cars had fake headlight decals, lots of test equipment and were dusty. My van was in good company.

Where about in AZ? Good place to test SUVs. :)

Nice van.

Seriously. More about the van.

In Tempe, I put together a few jobs through the first week of June.

Was able to drive the Sportsmobile down from Seattle on May 5th, loaded to go out on the weekends and such. Mine is an 07 Ford E350, 4WD with the 6.0 liter diesel. Pop up top with a full camper package inside. Makes road trips enjoyable.

Went to the 2014 Overland Expo at Mormon Lake last weekend. 7400' just south of Flagstaff - - lots of Sportsmobiles, exploration rigs of all kinds, expedition bikes were well represented too. Didn't see the Cayenne's though.

I'd post pictures but I'm on a vendors web...

No kidding, what Cayenne?

V10 or diesel in the van?

When we first moved to AZ there were frequently ads in the local paper looking for test drivers. Companies just wanted to rack up miles in the heat. Haven't see ads like that in several years.
Did some searching...
Automotive Testing Jobs | Test Drivers, Engineers, Technicians

Pays $10/hour. :(

I've seen that ad... If it paid better I'd be tempted to do that for the summer just until I found something I really liked...

Looks like they have one of each engine and drivetrain flavor.
Are they scheduled to introduce a re-vamp in 2015?

I can't afford a thing on this thread. Maybe the bike :)

Nice van! My bud has a white one. Same motor.

You have the solar panels?

I have a folding set for if/and when I should park somewhere for a week. I will use them for the first time this September at the Reno Air Races. Otherwise I can go five days with no problem on the house battery. Last year I carried a 1000w Honda generator.

Nice rig, thanks for sharing, especially the pictures. Strange reaction to your OP, huh: Cayenne testing what?

What is a fake headlight decal and why would those Cayennes have them?

I think I know the answers, but...
