How do thread ratings work?
 

I've seen mention of thread ratings (by number of stars) but other than seeing the stars at the title line, I've never rated a thread, nor do I necessarily want to. A question, though, can others see how you have rated a thread somewhere, or can they see poll results as measured in stars?

(I'm on a mac, so I think my interface is a little different than PC users)

I never pay attention to the star ratings. There seems to be a few strange folks that must giggle like little school girls to give a one star rating to threads started by some posters regardless of the subject of the post.

I really thing the entire star rating feature should be dumped. I will continue to ignore them.

I give 5 star ratings to all my own threads.

Your guide to thread rating on PPOT:

1 star = 1st rate thread
...
5 stars = 5th rate thread

THIS - and I also give 6 stars sometimes for "special" threads...wink wink. :)

I've never noticed the stars on threads in 13 years of posting here unless someone brings them up on a thread. I've also never "rated" a thread. Pretty lame if you ask me.
