I may have never had the pleasure of meeting him, wouldn't of heard of him if I have. :(

Impressive history there though looking him up. Back then though, there wasn't as big of a gap between dirt and pavement, pavement wasn't the laser etched perfectly even stuff we find on tracks today. The tire tech of the day wasn't much different either, with the paved cars drifting as well.

Kurt is used to racing in a way that he can "lean" on the wall, his comments about unlearning bad habbits are probably pretty spot on. :eek:

@VA Steve
Watching Kurt hanging it loose coming off of turn 2 at Charlotte with the odd spark once and then back when he drove the under performing #2 Dodge was awesome. Despite what he may be off the track, I loved the way he worked on pulling everything out of that car. He did the same with the #78.

Lot of motor racing history I don't know! I'm going from personal experience of people I've been at the track with.

This race is a prime example of a difference in racing styles

Carl has a VERY smooth style, lended itself well to the FWD. The twitchy car in the next round toasted him however.

Carl gets TOASTED by Vettel

Racing is incredibly diverse. I notice driver's favour diff styles, but some can adapt to multiple, some have just one style. how they react to pressure is quite different as well. "race craft" is a whole 'nother ball game on top of being fast. Hamilton and Alonso are something else from the rest in F1 in what I call "race craft".

Is he not a NASCAR clown?..jumping off roofs and so on? ..anyway not to ferment your thread.......

You are confusing him with his younger brother, Kyle Bush. Who, despite his oft criticized antics, is also a talented driver.

6th Place Finish in first open wheel race. At Indy. Guy can drive. On to the 600.

Not bad for a guy that can only turn left. Oh, wait...
He did surprisingly well for a rookie. I doubt he'll leave the money at Crashcar to come to IRL

Years ago in the back of the newspaper there were lists of season winnings (prize money) for the drivers in NASCAR and CART. The CART guys made OK money--in the 6-figures to the (very) low 7-figures. But the 43rd place NASCAR driver made as much money as the top-level CART guys. Financially-speaking, I'd much rather be a NASCAR driver.

Congrats to Busch on a very solid finish.

I agree he did well for a rookie. I was pulling for him during the final laps. Not that I was thinking he would win but I wanted him to make the to 5.
