it's time. bye bye kitty!
man, that happened fast. our cat deteriorated quickly. she has stopped eating, wobbles with stroke-like symptoms..(1+ year ago was the attack), weight is melting off of her. she looks like a skeleton. her breathing is very labored. she just started coughing up blood.
man, all my joking about "go into the light" when she poops outside the box, or into my shoe..or vomits on my bed..i wish i could take it all back. this is going to be difficult. BEST cat ever. never jumped up on counters or furniture..besides the couch. my wife brought her into our relationship..the beginnings was very hit or miss if she would even accept me. took me 8 years..of just being around for her to really let me pet her..and 10 years for her to sit on my lap. now i'm her dude. she is always sitting with me. 5:30 tomorrow. my wife is going to be a wreck..yeesh. i'll spare us the skinny cat pic...trust me,she is a cutie. wife named the cat, "Charity". it fit(s). |
Condolences. Been there. The only words of wisdom I can offer is get back into the game soonest.
|
Ah, hate these. I'm totally in denial about my 17 y.o. cocker spaniel/ poodle mix. She's been the best dog I've ever had but she's sorta slowing down a bit.
Best wishes for you guys. |
Sorry for your loss Cliff.
Charity had a good run sounds like. You'll be holding her when the time comes....she deserves as much....and more. Maybe get your next one from the shelter in honour of your sweet Charity.... All the best, Baz |
So sorry. The period of denial, before you come to grips and realize that the inevitable has to be done, totally sucks. BTDT many times.
|
Sorry man.
Sucks |

we kinda have a revolving door policy with our shelter. dogs as well. |
I literally just went through this. .....
Duane was 15+ years old, wife had him longer than me.... He had an appetite, used the box normally, but was losing weight, took him to the vet. ... everything was pointing at hyperthyroid issues, so we scheduled to bring him back for bloodwork etc..... The night before we were not to feed/water him. .... That morning, I heard his last meow. ... It sounded different. .... Found him laying in his usual spot.... He was gone.... Our home is absolutely different without him. We had him cremated, it's a service your vet surely provides. .... And something I never even thought about the logistics of until I had to.... |
Sorry to hear of the turn of events. Condolences to you and Mrs. vash.

Man I hate seeing these threads so often... It's so cruel that we outlive our pets. So sorry to hear. I wish you the best. As long as you remember her and keep her in your heart she'll always be with you.

Sorry for your loss, it is tough. We just had to put one of our cats down, she was only 5 years old.
|
Condolences Vash on your loss. It is amazing how those damned cats can worm their war into your life so completely. Our gato had a stroke about 2 weeks ago and we thought she was a goner . Now? has made almost a complete recovery, is eating, putting on weight etc. but we know that being 15+ YO with heart problems it is just a matter of time.

So sorry. We're long-time cat people here in this house so we know how attached we can become to these wonderful animals and how tough a time you and your wife are going through. Condolences.
|
It's tough when you have to take them in, but we give them wonderful lives.
Sorry for your loss. |
sorry to hear this..
your Lady will be a wreck.. and yes your going to feel bad... so don't try humor as your Lady will not get it or understand.. you need to be there for both.. Rika |
Sorry to hear, my condolences to you and your wife.

Been there several times. Just this week our adopted outdoor cat, left behind by someone who moved away, has been missing. Stops by several times a day for kibbles and pets for over the past year. No mole problems since he arrived. Love that cat. "George." Not seen in four days. Yeah, he may be on one of those cat "sojurns" and might turn up but my gut is knotted up with doubt. A neighbor, renting the house two doors down, came by a couple of months ago asking about the cat. Seems he was letting "George" sleep in his garage at night but had not put a littler box in there for him. George peed in there so the neighbor tried to keep the cat out of the garage after that. He hinted that he might take the cat to the shelter but I advised him not to, rather just shoo him out at night and he'd be fine. I explained the mole problem that George seemed to have solved for all of us but the guy didn't seem to care, he rents and he doesn't seem to care about the yard or anything else house related. Gonna' check the shelter later today but I think the neighbor just drove him out in the boonies and tossed him out. Sure hope not.

Sorry to hear this...hope you guys have another one come into your lives at the right time. By the thread title...thought maybe you came across a lion. ;)

Sorry to hear about your kitty Cliff. Mine just turned 16 and so far, knock on wood, still going strong but deaf as a post.
|
Sorry to hear. We lost our two long-time kitties a couple years ago (both 18+). When they decided to go, they went downhill fast. We did our best to make their journey easy.
I hope there's a new cat in your future (when you and your family are ready). |
