CA Paid 12 Weel Leave.
Wayne likes to muse about the Socialist Republic of California. What about the bill before the state assembly that would provide up tp 12 weeks of paid leave for those who had family issues? Right now, 12 weeks is allowed upaid before any negative action can be taken and only applies to companies that employ 50 or more. SB 1661, authored by Sheila Kuehl, provides that companies with any employees would be subject to these new regulations. Wayne how would this affect your business?

This is a great law for California. In fact any of these California anti-bussiness laws are great, for California. After all, California SHOULD be returned to it's natural desert beauty.
Seriously, I do not understand how California is to survive. If businesses continue moving out, it will be left with a desert full of bureaucrats and welfare recipients. |

Let's be nice. . .
I going to say California businesses should give 14 weeks of paid leave. I say that because I'm just a generous guy.
In fact, because I want everyone to know I'm more generous than the demo's (who say they are your true buddy ) So I'll make it 15 weeks of paid leave.Rocket Science, it's not

Signed into law today
Gray Davis signed a compromise bill that will give Ca workers six weeks of PAID leave to tend to newborns or family members that are ill, etc. The direct cost of the payments, which max out at $728 weekly, is to be borne by payroll deductions. This is the first law of its kind in the nation.
Federal government provides for 12 weeks of UNpaid leave for similar reasons in companies that employ more than 50 people. What this means is that any employer must hold a job open for an employee who decides to take leave. Effective July 1. 2004. Welcome to the Socialist Republic of California. Oh yeah, the AFL-CIO was the major supporter of the bill. God forbid that they would have to pay out weekly subsistance to their members. |
