Bmw k75s

Thinking about picking up an old K75S, was wondering if anyone here might have some experience or opinions to share? I was actually looking for an airhead R100RS but haven't found one that I like yet and these K75s bikes are pretty plentiful and cheap.

I rode a couple back when they were new and always liked them a lot, more than the K100 bikes, at least in town. I've heard that they are pretty bulletproof and great over the road. At my age and this state of the game, I'm not looking for scorching performance so much as comfort combined with a certain amount of sportiness or fun to ride around town quality.

Anything specific to know or look out for? Certain years a lot better than others? How about the ABS on later models, is it any good? A big plus to have? Thanks a lot, I know someone on here knows these.

My brick was bulletproof and great over the road, but I didn't have it long. I bought it on a whim. Nothing really said BMW to me like a boxer, so I ended up with a '99 oilhead. The brick did not have ABS, my oilhead did but it was really touchy. Didn't work half the time but at least it had a warning light telling you it wasn't working. Can't imagine older ABS was any better or different on the different engine configurations.

I recently sold my K100RS. Fantastic distance bike, and sporty enough to enjoy on the twisties. The ABS saved my bacon a few times. I would expect the K75 to be at least 3/4s of the experience

3/4s of the weight would be nice.

I had a late 80s K75. Pretty good bike but way too heavy. Mine came with a siezed fuel pump and a couple blocked injectors. It's a reliable brick just keep up on the maintenance.

You'll probably get more qualified opinions on the R1100S forum. The 75 is a lot smoother than the 100. I believe they're reliable, but they're old now. Boxers are more satisfying, IMO.

I'll cross-post this there, just figured that everyone on Pelican drops in here once in a while, including many former MC owners who never visit the R1100S forum.
