A weekend out of town. Time together...nothing tangible that will get put on the bottom/back shelf. Just good memories.

My GF is turning fifty too. I said I'd trade her in for two 25 year olds.

What she wants is a stay in a nice hotel and a sky tower restaurant meal with her relatives on the day.

Well Bill...

You're in the right town for that. Auckland has that fancy spire just like Seattle, yes?

I like Auckland (and the rest of NZ). I want to go back soon.

This would be my choice. Another option would be to setup a girls (Mom/Daughter or Mom/BFF) night out at a concert or show that she would really enjoy.

Hugh - weekend trip to Santa Barbara. Get a nice place on Cabrillo Blvd. Sunday there is an art show there worth walking. Get something special. Cap the day with sunset drinks and great food on the outside deck at Brophey Bros on the harbor.

Do you have kids?

My wife's birthday was earlier this month. My son is home from college and we discussed getting the gift.

His insight was frankly better than mine, especially after all the previous efforts to get it right on my part.

He hit two home runs.

Ask your kids what makes Mom happy. Different perspective.

I did this about 3 years ago. Called her besties, borrowed an apartment in NYC, had them all meet in NYC for a 3 day weekend. I paid for a spendy dinner/drinks for all three of them. Was expensive but now all three of them plus another woman go to the city every fall for a long weekend.

You don't have to go that crazy but sometimes is nice to get away minus the spouse.

Does she have an account on Pintrest? That's usually a good way to figure out a gift.

Here's a great gift idea that she'll enjoy for hours and hours!

Clone-A-Willy | As seen in the film Neighbors with Zac Efron and Seth Rogan! The actual dildo kit used in the movie.

Hi Ian. Yep, that's Auckland with the tower. Pleased you like the place. And Seattle is on my destination list for someday.

sigh.

my just shy of 50 yo wife, I offered to buy a performance driving school full day session.

pro school, 2.5 mile road course.

women only, no chest thumping men allowed in classroom or track.

normal price was $550 for guy day, women only day was $395.

I reallllllly tried to talk her into it, but also didn't want to pressure or push her (all men know how that would of turned out)

tears suck.

she'd of done it if a female friend of hers would go along with (it's a great learning experience that I've done/graduated before myself.

but dammitall shucks darn it she didn't want to go solo.

"maybe next year...........yeah right...........sigh."

Send a message via AIM to Gogar
+1 Get her a spa day at the Ritz or a Four Seasons or something, it'll cost you $200-$500 depending on how great of a guy you are.

For special gf's, I've always done a spa day followed by dinner at a top restaurant in which I called a week+ in advance and arranged a special 5 to 7 course dinner with both things normally on the menu and things she loves to eat. In the 3 times doing this, never had a chef say no, in fact they seemed to really get into it. Definitely a special day, night. Last was Troquet in Boston and from 11 to midnight, the kitchen just started sending out random, awesome tasting plates. She felt like royalty.

My GF is turning 50 in two weeks time as well .... I got her a Cartier Santos (current watch is nothing great), and we're going to HI for 10 days, dinner with 10 or so close friends on the night at, a nice, but not overly expensive restaurant ...she and her gfs are all going to a Spa that afternoon ...
