Chillin with lowryder in San Diego

The Trophy Wife and I are RVing in San Diego this week. Lowryder's shop is about 1/2 mile from the RV park. He came over with a fabulous marinated Tri-Tip, twice baked potatoes, salad, beer and wine.

Ate, drank, smoked some cigars. Fabulous time.

Jim - THIS is why you're not doing Seattle to Portland?

You'd rather be relaxing?

Look at lots of floor plans and your needs now and ten years down the road. Walk around bed for sure, having grand kids?, towing a car? I got a 30' rig legal at Ca state beaches, Class A is higher and better driving view than Class C, gas unless you're going to put 50k miles a year on it. Biggest frig you can get they're all small, some models have two. Self leveling jacks and two pushouts and I'm cracking a beer in ten minutes or less. Typically one year warranty on the house and truck mfgr on the truck, 3 year 36K miles. I bought a 7 year 70K extended warranty for a couple of grand. The self levelers go out, they can easily be the cost of the extended warranty, they're only covered under the one year house warranty. Customer service for all RV dealers sucks after the sale.

I run the engine and generator every two weeks and move it a few feet to keep the tires round, I park it on my property. Change tires every five years regardless of miles. Corner balancing helps a lot, otherwise front and rear with a truck scale works. Get inner rear tire valve extenders, don't get the cheap screw on flexible ones, they leak and fail. Go to a truck tire place and have them put real ones on.

If you want sat TV dish or Direct. If you already have one at home look into carrying it out to the RV. I haveDISH on the RV and cable at home. Dish you can buy 30 days and use 3 days and suspend service for a month or two and reactivate it for 3 more days and suspend again. So you can stretch out 30 days of service to possibly a year. IIRC, they charge $5 to reconnect each time. Still a good deal. Sat dome on roof if under trees you're SOL. Dish tailgater (for RV's) the cable MUST hook directly into the receiver through a window or otherwise rewire, it cant go through the house cable system because the cable powers the DISH cube antenna which automatically finds satellites, where as with Direct you have to aim the antenna dish.

I can truthfully attest it's a bad ass rig! VERY nice layout, walk around bed (no fun climbing over others unless they are of the nubile college persuasion!), nice, dark woodwork and a killer looking slate(?) floor. Tres Gauche!

Herr Oberst…I SHOULD be on my bike…but I've been slammed getting the house ready for our new arrival…a red-tail hawk! :D Getting into falconry, a bucket list item for at least 4 decades! You guys have fun!!! I wanna see a full report!
