Looking for a 94-95 E320
My grandfather needs a new car, his old Buick is slowly giving up the ghost. He's always loved my wagon and likes the idea of a sedan.
Found this one on eBay in FL, which seems like the perfect car, but it's on eBay and have only had one good experience this way. If anyone knows of anything local that is in a similar condition to this one, please let me know. Not a problem to get a Southern or West Coast car.

Good luck Shaun! Seems like going South would be pretty important in finding a rust free one. I buy a lot of cars in TX, Dallas in particular. If you find anything around Wichita (doubtful) I'd be happy to take a look.

1995 Mercedes-Benz E320
Only an hour from me...looks as nice as the Fla car. Issue w/ the low mileage ones is the headgasket and harness-have they been done?

I have always maintained that 1994 was the pinicle of automotive engineering. I have alot of supporting evidence much of which is on the basis that the turbo 3.6 is my favorite car basically since it was new.
1994: new enough to have modern systems but old enough not to have a bunch of extra crap. Of course ironincally the 3.6 turbo is probably the only car from 94 that actually didnt have modern fuel injection

Thanks Matt, Robert and Greg, some nice cars out there. Few quick points, he doesn't want black, likes the gold/tan, but that black car in W. Allenhurst is special, will talk with him about it and call that one in Mohnton. Definitely wants a 4-door, tried to get him into a coupe. At 90, he's not a convertible guy anymore.
I talked with the owner of the one in FL, he's German (from Germany) and was originally purchased for a friend's father who passed away soon after. He's sending me a carfax. Says the car is immaculate, seats have been recovered (before he got it) and he didn't think there was enough cushioning so he had more added. Has receipts back to 3 years, tires are new. Wish it had heated seats, the ones in my wagon are great. Highest offer for this car was $5500 that he declined. I think at $6000 and $500 in transportation, it could be a good buy. Anyone here in around WPB?

I had thought these were more time-sensitive going bad within 5 years of new. Asked the owner and he didn't know but will have him check any receipts he has.

I gave my daughter my e320 1994, the soy harness' do go south. I believe there are 5 harnesses, I replaced one so far and the mechanic says more will fail in the future. He worked for a MB dealership for 25 years. Other than that great car.

Thanks, good negotiating tool. It's a sucky job but not terribly difficult and new harnesses have come way down in price.

Yes, I'm sure he could sell his house to buy a car.
I sent him pics of the black car in Jersey, he prefers the gold. Left a message for the PA car.

Those cars are plentiful around here, to put it mildly. $3k buys a nice 4-door, $6k is bananas.

Denis, what do you think of the eBay car in FL?

I believe heat is the killer of the wire harness, they break down adjacent to the motor. I've not heard of issues elsewhere on the car.

The only other real issue is reverse in the transmission. My car the transmission was rebuilt and it's not uncommon. My guess though with so few miles on any car I get for him, it won't be an issue; I don't think it's the same type of thing as dilaver studs breaking from just sitting. Parts are pretty cheap and extremely easy to work on, much like a 911 so I'll do preventive maintenance as needed. I did a new right rear caliper and disc on my wagon today in 8 minutes and then gravity bled it. Can't get much easier than that.

You changed one rotor and caliper at a time? Those should be done in sets, one axle at a time.
