Unhappy Large Forest Fire near me

Sad, Very Sad.

We go camping with a 4500 pound truck camper in this area near me all the time.........

40 square miles of forest burnt.

100+ homes lost.

85-125 foot tall fir trees............40 SQUARE miles of them.

~100 foot tall trees, I can't imagine the sounds, smells, and heat up-close.

stunning video zoomed in and panned out...

sad to think about all the animals, deer, bear, squirrels and rabbits.

A few years ago. The photographer was with LA County fire and expected to see the house burn to the ground.

One of my favorite camping spots, Cascade Mountains, 1-2 hours east of Seattle. Near the town of Index and Stevens Pass.

there are still areas of old growth timber..............yes this tree is HUGE.

I feel for you Rusty.......I have several close friends that may lose homes in this fire....Looks really bad for those up at the end of the Chilwist Trail out of Malot......

Being in Cle Elum and with SAR, we've had this hell the past 2 summers, but ok so far this year.....

Just not in our grandkids' generation - if "heal" means "looks like it did before the fire".

Had many crown burns here over the last 30-some years. Such huge fires leave very different - though vibrant and growing in their own right - landscapes.

Here in the SW however - fire means more of the evil locust bush. Die! Die! Die!

New Mexico locust

Those guys will flay the flesh from your hands and shins...
