Have we talked about the Conrad Meier Fish Harvester?

Fell asleep on the couch the other night, with the TV on, and thought I dreamed this. Turns out, it's real!!! Look out fish, technology is coming for you...

Their website wouldn't allow me to embed the video:

I would bet that isn't legal in Wisconsin as the poles have to be within reach.

I dunno about it being illegal as it looks like the "drone" only pulls the baited hooks out into the water and then an on-shore reel brings the line and fish back. The number of baited hooks on a line could be a problem.

That's not fishing, that's "farming". So much for catch and release...

Isn't the old saying: "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."? This little beauty is the gift that keeps on giving.

Also, I don't think the price was given. Probably have to call that NZ/Ausie sounding fellow to get that little surprise!

If you watch it you'll get an idea.

"just this one catch of 12 good table fish values at over $500 in prime fillets at the store, add up the savings and you can work it out because it's easy to see........could pay for itself in no time at all"

My guess is $999 - $1,499

But according to the pitch, that's still cheaper than most boats

I don't fancy sending that out in those breakers in the video and it actually coming back every time suerly it could snag or break the line?

It seems quite an expensive piece of equipment to send merrily out to sea on the end of a longline. I wouldn't want it to get stuck in kelp or get a hammering in big swells.
