Any Mad Max fans? 4th installment trailer released

I didn't exactly have high hopes, but since the original creator was involved, it did have a chance. You can't tell how a movie will be by the trailer alone, but I got I'm excited and impressed. Hoping it's as good as it could be!

Cool! Would love to see this - even though Mel isn't in it :( - looks like it will be pretty good. Thanks for the head's up!

Oh I will definitely see it. Loved the original movies.

Looks to be another all action and no story movie.

Maybe I'm old fashion, but if I cannot connect to the characters (a good story helps here) then all the action in the world doesn't make a difference.

Yeah but the original trilogy all had stories.

I'm sure there will be one in this one as well.

Post apocalyptic world (ala The Walking Dead) - the main theme is SURVIVAL - and then there is character development.

Mixed in with that is the set design & the adventure/action as it unfolds.

I'm not an expert in movies like Craig and Hugh - I'll let them add their 2 cents.

But the first 3 all had a storyline.

It's science fiction so you have to keep that in mind - for those who enjoy that genre - there doesn't have to be a whole lot of storyline anyway. ;)

Yeah! I'm a fan the original trilogy always left me wanting more. This is long over due.
I hope this installment is equally enjoyable.

Mad Max - Classic stuff:

1) Chase scene....Family pulls from a stop sign towing their "Caravan"....Big Crash....Goose runs his police bike with a road race fairing into the bush to avoid the mess....Comes hiking out and some citizen sez: What happened.?...Goose: Dunno mate, just got here myself.

2) Big outpost police station. Mechanic working on the "V8" (a V8 was a BIG DEAL back then)....Female secretary voice softly on the PA reading continually from a police procedure manual...Bald headed Sarge yells: MEN, do whatever you want, just make sure the paperwork is clean!!!!

Classic

The trailer looks crazy good but the original XB Falcon was blown up in the second movie.

What's with that?

Thought the remains of his car was the basis of his wagon in the third movie?

No, the caravan was built on an F150 platform, no relation to the Interceptor. And I'll be standing in line to see this.

Tom Hardy is good in anything.

This should be great.

Too many unbelievable special effects , too much posing for the camera, it looks like it sucks already.

wdfifteen 07-27-2014 06:44 PM

^^
The appeal of the original was that it was so original. The sequels have been OK, but despite its shortcomings, nothing will ever be as cool as Mad Max.
I might see it, but I'm afraid it will be a bunch more CGI explosions and special effects that are in so many movies already.

I think they did this film a bit differently than most newer pictures. The vehicles were all built for the movie and there is a small army of mechanics keeping them running. That's a lot more physical effects than a normal movie I would think.

More than a few nods to the original movie in the trailer. Excellent.

The original Max was a samurai film, and while it look dated now...it was made on a shoe string, all those stunts were real, the roads weren't even closed....

I met the bloke who the drove the car towing the caravan...

Long Live the Interceptor.

Baz 07-27-2014 07:39 PM

Some of the filming was on location in Nambia I understand?

Certainly different, but I'll watch it for sure.

Huge fan of the original trilogy, when I initially heard about the "Fury Road" reboot I was skeptical--however, knowing that George Miller was behind it and that Mel's Icon Productions is involved--and after seeing the trailer I am looking forward to it. I am just unsure if this is a total re-boot, or if it somehow fits into the canon--maybe he found/re-built another Interceptor--based upon the trailer in some scenes Max appears as he did at the start of "Beyond Thunderdome"--long hair, turban, etc.

Exactly my thoughts... I don't expect it to be exactly like the first (or other two for that matter) but I think that is why some people are let down by reboots, because they do.
