FAL fans - inexpensive recievers!

Just saw where Brownells has DCI metric Receivers in stock - Coonan stuff rocks!

http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/receivers/upper-receivers/fal-type-iii-metric-receiver-prod69739.aspx

In addition, the price is great ($299!) and Brownells is running a deal thru 8/10 for $50 off any $300+ order.

It has been YEARS since a quality $250 receiver was available.... get 'em while you can

are there any kits left?

Several kits a week show up on the falfiles.com forums. Last major glut of them were from Entreprise and lacking in quality and delivery... probably mostly due to Entreprise

I guy picked up an Imbel receiver at the shop that he had ordered last week (plus 4 bare AR lowers). We chatted a bit about FAL's (I've had an inch pattern Enterprise for years but don't think I've ever shot the thing) and he mentioned that 'import' barrels aren't the bargain they used to be for someone putting an FAL together.

That's 'cause under 922r the BATFE guys made the executive decision that barrels are foriegn evil parts and non-importable.

But they are still out there. Turned down a deal from a guy on facebook for a complete G1 front end, a G1 barrel w/ gas block installed, a unknown (but threaded... so not G1) barrel w/ no gas block, a bare lower receiver, and some Israeli wood for $350.

And of course, you can always make a barrel from a blank - several FALs have been built in calibers other than 762x51, including an Alaska bear smaker in 358
