Griot's Garage

Yeah I know...they're pricey. Sometimes over priced.

But I like a lot of their stuff and I've been buying it for about as long as they've been around. Their race jack cost me $600 some ten or twelve years ago. But it's outlasted many a big red or no names that I bought as companion jacks.

I purchased their 3 inch pneumatic buffer about 7-8 years ago and the head finally sheared off after lots of use. I returned it a few weeks ago and yesterday they sent me a new one, redesigned, with a head that can be replaced. No questions- no charge.

Some companies give you the pickle for free and keep you coming back. Griot's is one of them.

Anybody have similar experiences??

Advance Auto Parts now carries some of their detail/cleaning products. I bought some of their glass cleaner and really liked it.

I like Griots, even if they are expensive. Amazon is also now carrying some Griots items.

Griot's gets my endorsement. I bought their orbital polisher and used it for many years and hundreds of hours. This spring the transmission completely busted in pieces. I sent it back with a nice note and they promptly sent me their latest brand new unit...

You know why Griot's stuff is expensive?

Because it is worth it. That Gummi Pflege stuff is still the bomb diggity for rubber seals though.

Is it really? Comparitive to, say, Meguiar's...is there really THAT much of a difference? From the prices I saw here on PP, it's no more expensive than the products I'm already buying (primarily Meguiar's), so if it's really a superior product, I'd certainly be willing to try them out.

Anyone who's used both able to offer a compare/contrast?

I prefer Griot's to Meguairs but not for everything. I love their Wax, their Speed Shine and their polishing compounds. For cleaning crap like tar I use Stoner's Xenit (or goo be gone). For plastic trim and tires I use Stoners. For car cleaner I use whatever's on sale and for cleaning tires and wheel wells etc. Simple Green. Meguiars makes a leather cleaner and conditioner I like.

Thanks, Cairns. I'm also a Simple Green fan for the wheel wells/tires.
