Looks interesting to my inner geek.

Saw it posted a while ago on several bike sites.
Not for me for any number of reasons.
I'm just happy to get one that fits, then throw it away after two years.
I wouldn't expect the Scully to get tossed that soon.

Lots of good stuff there. The rear view camera would be great for in town use to monitor your 6 at stops but see it as a distraction from the critical stuff ahead while underway. Activation of the camera, as with the other options, is probably available as a voice command or at least should be.

Thats a pretty expensive piece of disposable safety gear. I agree with some of the comments on /. If this could be turned into an inexpensive install kit they could get more traction. But being a specialty piece of equipment may price them out of most riders' budgets. $300 is the most I could spend on a helmet - most other riders wont spend half that.

$1400 is a real stretch.

What is your brain worth?

Last Monday week ago, a bike rider died on me while I pumped on his chest. The front/crown of his full face helmet was crushed like a boiled egg and he had sustained what turned out to be fatal brain injury. All very confronting, but one of my thoughts at the time was that I don't regret spending $1200 on my Stilo lid.

I buy the best gear I can afford, which was about $300 on my Shoei (sp?) helmet. I cannot however justify $1400 for the gadgetry in the helmet that does not improve the protection offered. Besides, $1400 to protect my brain is useless if the impact snaps my neck and the casing of the helmet shatters like a lightbulb, right?

And that $1200 lid you have, how much of that dollar value is dedicated to the electronics in your HUD, bluetooth headset, and speakers VS. safety design and impact protection? Or would you rather pay $200 more for those computer devices in a $50 helmet?

The price of a helmet has little to do with its ability to protect your gourd. Stuarts reference above would have doubtful been any different regardless of helmet brand or cost. I believe most manufacturers recommend replacement every 5 years as long as helmet isn't damaged. 2 years seems wasteful...especially for occasional riders.

Common sense and good defensive riding skills are the best safety device you can have. A top safety rated lid can be had for under $500 easily.

One of the best things about riding is the opportunity to rid yourself of all the electronic wizardry that clogs our normal lives. Having all that crap built in and strapped to your melon is the last thing I'd want distracting me from an enjoyable ride.

I think its cool technology. But $1400 is crazy for a helmet. Ill pass. But there is already competition on the horizon. Hopefully the price will come way down.

All that gadgetry makes it worth less, IMHO. I want simplicty and comfort and certainly do not want more distractions or more things that can break. No thanks.

How about manufacturers stop adding all this bull s..t electronic distractions to our vehicles??
Driving is becoming more dangerous, not safer.

+1.

The only gadgetry I want on my bike is a radar detector with a Bluetooth connection to the helmet speakers.

I have two of those on my bike, one mounted near each handlebar. They came standard.
