How's your summer projects coming guys?

I have not been posting a lot lately, because I have been working my can off most of the summer .
I bought a backhoe in the spring, and I managed to make a warzone out of my front yard. I've been taking flak from my lady all season about the yard, but it is finally coming together and she can see the light at then end of the tunnel.
I basically had to replace a culvert that went under my driveway, and replace 300 some feet of drain pipe that a little creek was diverted into many years ago. the creek now runs like a mother and was flooding my yard every rainfall, and finally washed out my driveway this spring . It was a real challenge digging up the pipe, all the while managing all the water flow. I replaced all the 4 inch pipe with 12 inch pipe, and gave myself a cleanout every 50 feet. That project is basically done, I am waiting for it to settle a little more, then I'll go to topsoil, and plant some grass.
Then, I knocked down 5 really large trees that were right next to the house I somehow managed to do this without dropping the trees on anything. I dug out the root balls, and pushed them over with the hoe. I have two more stumps to bury, and a little more grading to do and this project will be done. This will be the area where I will build my mancave garage in the spring.
And just because I believe that ones plate can never be too full, last week, I bought a 2009 2500 hd with 8000 dents, bent bumpers, and a locked up 6.0 gas motor to replace my shop truck. I got that running last night, and should have the bumpers and hood back on tomorrow , and will put it into service shortly .
When you live in the northeast, you have to make hay while the sun is shining.
It is almost vacation season for us, and I am looking forward to some down time.
How are you making out?

I remember the thread about your driveway.Glad you got if figured out. Man, ou move trees like its the wild west. Good on ya. Going well here. I finally have my '47 Dodge truck drivable and cruise with it every week. Got the shop cleaned up from the Dodge project and I'm ready to dig into Speedster electrical issues. Then the 911 comes apart for valve guides. It's great being able to drive almost all my vehicles for a change. Getting a little cocky and thinking about a mid-50s Mopar sedan to cruise around in. Doesn't have to be a Chrysler 300. A 2 door '57 Dodge Lancer would do just fine.

Yeah - nice work on that culvert and your trees, Fred!

Just bought a replacement handle for the Silverado tailgate - does that count?

Seriously - mostly just keeping up with my client projects - I'll tackle more stuff here at my place when we get into some cooler weather - it's been bloody brutal lately!

Here's a recent project I did....

got the house ready to sell and sold it (lots of work, bathroom, yard, garage, etc...). We put it up on a Thu, someone saw the house on Fri, brought their spouse back on Sat and made an offer on Sun. We then had to get through the inspection, maintenance and appraisal. We heard today that the appraisal came in so we should be closing in 2-3 weeks. Last Sun we found our next place. We've got a huge (major downsizing) garage sale that we're going to have next Fri and Sat morning. Then we'll be moving the next weekend. It's been a productive summer that's not quite done.

Wow , you do some nice work Baz! That place looks great. I've worked better than 10 years around here cleaning this place up, removing all the dead/ugly trees, shrubbery, clearing tons of brush, drainage, etc. After the garage goes in , I figure I'll be done tearing the place up, and I am then looking forward to landscaping it up real nice,
,re- blacktoping the driveway and putting the finishing touches on the place once and for all. Hopefully you won't mind giving out some advice when the time comes. The silverado handle should not be all that bad to do for ya to do,
Man, I cannot imagine getting a house ready to sell, and having to move again, that would be some work. We've been put for 15 years now, and plan on staying. Congrats on selling the house so fast, must have been a nice place .

Summer projects have been a bust. Having an 8 month old baby nuked just about everything I had on my list! Still hoping to get my engine and Trans in before the rain sets in.

My summer project is heading up to Monterey for the Pebble Beach Concurs d'Elegance. In trying to make things absolutely perfect I burned through the finish on one of the wood panels and now have to scramble to make it right by Sunday night, so the pieces can be taken up to the show. The panic attacks have finally subsided.

Surprised my wife on her birthday by secretly restoring her 1963 Honda 50 that she grew up riding on and had not seen in years. Still waiting on a couple of parts, but it is up and running.

Its been bored out now, out to a beefy 55cc's!!

Scored major points.

WOW! That is a sweet ride!

No real summer project... working a lot of overtime trying to pay the bills... and having two parents in there 90's who end up in the hospital every few weeks eats up most of my energy.

My Summer has been great. Playing golf & taking the boat out for yellow pike & perch whenever possible. The grass keeps growing & gets in the way. Life couldn't be better.

Bought a $20 nylon gear rebuild kit for a 30 year old Sears garage door opener. Opened it up and the non-replaceable parts were mostly kaput. I have no ambition to do tasks anymore. I pay my illegal gardener to fix my broken sprinkler pipes.

It's been a busy summer. I painted the house, ladder, scalfold etc. I had some new siding put on. Planted a garden. And just got done laying down some flagstone pavers on my patio. Laid down some Sacrete hardening sand today. My wife had some doubts, but hey, I did it.

My first summer project is almost finished. It was fixing a royal screw up. When my grader was grading my property, he graded a small road on the south end. He spotted a nice place to make a storage pad & went ahead with it. Afterwards I built a 16X16 ft. storage shed on it. Fast forward years later, and the land to the south sells & the new owner plans to build. The County tells him he can't get a permit because there is already a structure on the property. Yep, I built my shed over the line. So I disassembled the roof, cut the wall panels into 2, 10&12 ft. sections & 2, 4&6 ft. sections, & disassembled the floor & base. I just finished erecting two storage sheds (10X12 ft. & 6X8 ft.) on my well pad out of the pieces, wall sections, floor, etc. from the old shed. Thank goodness that's over with!

Installed by myself bevel clear Cedar lap, and 5/8" thick T1-11 Siding, up high on ladders, new cedar siding on the mid bay and T1-11 over high bay.

total shop size is 3000 sq foot.

Top of my high bay doors are 14x14' with the eave at 16'. Not fun, I don't mind ladders, its that gravity thing.

so then I relax in the garden, llamalizer works great for tomatoes.
