When a John Deere is not quite enough....

Big chunk of concrete (~400 lbs) on the land where I recently purchased a new home.

Needed to move it from one corner of the lot to the other (~1 acre).

Tried hooking up the X300 John Deere lawn tractor, but only spun the wheels.
Not sure if the 20hp Kawasaki engine would have had enough power anyway.

Had to bring out the heavy hitter....

The GTI pulled it without any problem at all.
Guess I need to get a 4x4 P/U in the near future.
But nice to know that German engineering in da haus was able to come through.
"Oh snap!"
:D

Funny stuff .....I always say: "use your head, not your back."

FYI - I moved a big stump with my JD 318 this spring. I have chains and wheel weights for plowing snow, so no issues.....Probably 400 lbs......

first thought that came to mind, serious.

Good move. You've gotta do what you gotta do it with.

I get a kick out of stuff like this, since I "improvise" once in a while. The "can we" or "should we" thought process is often the most fun:

Heh, Honey, do me a favor, look in the GTI owners manual and check the tow rating.

We don't own a trailer, Sweetie.

I know, Pookie, but just check the tow hook rating and then come hold my beer...

Kubotas like mine are worth their weight in gold for general work on acreage, multi purpose. You can use clamp-on forklift skids for the front bucket too.

40" wide door gun safe, not light weight, ~750 pounds.

of course you can use a tractor with PTO drive for laundry,, or belt drive for other implements too, this at a local fair:

When a John Deere is not quite enough....

Get a bigger Deere!!!

After mega-storm damage earlier this year, my uncle broke down and purchased a new Deere similar in size to Rusty's Kubota, and it's simply a beast. We've taken the summer off, but we'll be clearing crap for a LONG time. I bet he wouldn't take a hundred dollars for it now :D

My grandfather (RIP) would be PROUD, PROUD, PROUD of your ingenuity (...makin' do with what ya got) ;)

One of my Pcar buddies....photoshopped (painted) my car appropriately now.

Looks good, eh?

Too funny. Well done, sometimes you need to get creative.

I dont have a tractor and sometimes need to move stuff around similar to this. So far I've made much use of a handtruck, come along, turned pvc pip into skids... sometimes its just my back and not head doing the work though.
