I have a gun safe full of guns ....... I carry a Ruger LCP 380 almost every where I go. It is not a range gun... Not a .45, But i have it. I have 2 LCP's and they are not fun to shoot but at least I have it.
When a guy at the gas station said he wanted to fight me for LOOKING AT HIM.......I replied fist or guns...His reply was that he didn't have a gun, I said I did.
The last thing I want to do is have to use it, But at least I have it.

Hard question to answer in one way. If something goes bump in the night, I'm grabbing my 6" S&W 686+. 7 rounds of .357 Magnum, silly accurate, pull the trigger and it goes bang every time. But for CCH, my Sig P938 in a pocket holster is fantastic.

I went through this Q&A drill with myself and ended up with a G26 with extended mag and in-slide-tube laser.

Light (and that is a BIG issue for an every day carry) small enough to fit in a pocket holster, (the extended magazine gives a full hand grip yet still fits in a pocket) VERY quick to come back to battery and the laser is internal, adds insignificant weight. My only other modification would be to install Glock night sights.

I was never a fan of "tactical tupperware" and had previously owned a model 22, which I hated. my search for the best solution to a CCW (FOR ME) resulted in the G26.

Very good stopping power with the correct ammo.
I have 2 carry guns, LCP380 and a G19. I just got a FNS9, I really like this gun. Can't shoot it as well as the G19 yet. Practice, practice.

Too big, bulky and heavy and you are not going to carry it.

1. Compact and light weight. Otherwise it will get left at home or in the car too often!
2. Caliber. Lots of discussion on this one, but a .32 that you can repeatedly hit with is better than a big bore magnum that causes you to flinch.
...use something that will fit in a pocket.

I have a nice Sig 9mm and a Kimber 45, but for CC, I use a Kel-Tec 32. About the size and weight of a cell phone. No reason to leave it at home or draw unwanted attention.

My current personal carry is Beretta PX4 Sub - 9mm, 13 rounds. Nice lightweight piece and fits in the palm of the hand.

Whatever you carry - shoot it enough to be comfortable with it
+P hollow points are your friend
LCP - Sig 938 - and numerous others - inc. a good 45...
as long as you're comfortable with it
but
Like they say
45 ACP - because shooting twice is just plain silly

S&W Bodyguard 380 ... Very easy to conceal and comfortable to carry. Try to conceal and carry any 9mm or larger caliber handgun for one week and I'm sure you will be looking at smaller caliber HG's.

I primarily pocket carry my 9mm P938 and have no complaints.
