I want a Porsche Motorcycle !

I think the Porsche Company are the only people that would /could do it.
A real step forward, a almost space machine compared to the archaic stuff we are used to.
BMW and a few others make a great bike..but in the end we are all most a passenger like the rest.
There have been all kinds of designs , stages, engines, types of bikes made.
I do not think the proper one has yet arrived..
No, not just a P.engine , ( like Harley V rod) I mean the whole thing end to end.
Yes i could make a custom bike, but it would be just "another"one . I Am not going to do my own castings, so at the most it would be a home grown frame with someone elses power plant. No big idea there.
For sure Porsche could do a real tour machine with a drive shaft , adjustable head steering, some creature comforts, maybe a cockpit ?
I think i look forward to a time when i get a windshield wiper , real heat, real AC.
Maybe bucket seats !
I know the "day" is coming, but hurry up already !

No matter what they made the comments would run along the lines of:
They've lost their way!
It should have been air-cooled!
Why couldn't they have built a real sport bike?
Why did they hang all this crap on it?

It would be a lose-lose situation.
Not enough margin on the few machines they would sell.

Intriguing idea though.
What would a Porsche mototcycle be/do? Would they build a two-wheeled "911 RSR" or motorcycling's Panamera?

Best

My prediction- H.D will not be here in 10 years. Their market is dead, flooded, and customer base all gone.
No one will be stupid enough to pay $15G to $30G for 50 or 60 HP. It is just stupid!
The potato, potato ( chug a put chug a put) heads will have expired.
There is room for way beyond the status que in manufacturing. .
To step away from the model "T" concept of the current thought and run of production motorcycle !
With today's technology there is no reason to have to put the foot dwn at the stop light.
A enclosed cockpit should have already been here.

Ditto. Why not just get one of those three-wheeled bikes? CanAm. You really want a cockpit, AC, bucket seats, heat, etc.? Why? That's not a motorcycle and what you are describing has been around for decades...it's called a "convertible".

Newsflash! Porsche already makes one.

They already make something like that. It's called a car.

I had this Husq. TE511 for a few months - loved the feel of it. Big lung weighing in at 250 lbs.
Didn't buy it to dirt it, just to chase around on it. Traded it in on my Ducati Hypermotard EVO SP 1100.
Even on a 65 degree morning of scooting around, it puked-up on my patio. She just overheated too easily and I chose to not phuque with it.
.
I want a 250 lb. motorcycle with ~70 hp and good torque, and I'll be tickled.
So far, my Hypermotard is a blast to ride and a keeper. Probably the last Ducati I'll have.
.
I'd like to see motorcycles go lighter rather than more hp.
Not interested in having a motorcycle that's not a motorcycle.
If I want A/C, I'll buzz around in my Abarth.
.
YMMV.

No, I dont want a 3 wheel ! , You guys lack imagination.
You should be throwing ideas in !
It will go my way i guarantee it. I just want to rush it . The industry is stagnated.
Quite a few years ago there were a couple prototypes B4 the computer era .
Now with the advent of them, trainer wheels could come dwn at stop lights so the fred flintstone thing does not have to be done.
I think bucket seats (real comfort) and wind off ya if one desires is the wave of the future .
A Motorcycle could be cleaned up. The drag ratio ( coefficient ) is horrible .

I think it's fun how you want ideas but chastise the very people you're getting your ideas from. You must be a hoot at work....

Here's one that says Hyundai on the valve covers. It''s a start. Now, lets see your vivid imagination here, Isaac Asminov.

No chastisement .
Transparently they did not read my post correctly,
Smarty pants ideas like I want a 3 wheeler is not a hoot of a imagination either.
Rather limited and not at all what the subject was about.
Sometimes we all need our horizons and mental band width expanded.
Good pic by the way

Well, there is always the H-D V-Rod, the engine for which, if I recall correctly, Porsche had a hand in.

As for Harley-Davidson not being here in 10 years - one can only hope. But I don't think I'd bet on that happening.

I think the bike you describe in your first post would be awesome. We could call it the BMW k1600!!!

Vinman -
I can not see why having a enclosed cockpit would not make it a motorcycle ..it would still be on two wheels..
Still a M.C.
A Honda Goldwing is hardly what i am fathoming at all. That is the same Ol same ol stuff.
Nice but..not at all what i would like.
I don't wish H.D. out of business. It makes no difference to me if they are there or not...I have owned a lot of them.
Nobody makes anyone buy them.
I just do not see them surviving the climate change.
They made one really great street bike in their history ( FXRT ) and they let the status quo idiots derail it.
They can only pander to them while they are bringing cash. That day is almost gone.
The way i see it they have to do something FAST to attract the market that has not been swept away by the romance.
