Honest Toyota shop in LA/SFV?

Got a friend in the Valley who may need some minor stuff done on her Camry. Anybody know a good shop or someone who wants to make a few bucks?

North Hollywood Toyota charged me for a cabin air filter that they didn't change. I came back a few days later and they apologized and made good on it.

I've been pretty happy with Pep Boys for routine service.

There is a guy who works on sporty cars (mostly Japanese) that I take my Miata to over by LAX.

Pretty sure he could work on a Camry.

They charge $90 hour, I have been happy with their work on my Miata, your friend could call an confirm they will work on a Toyota.

Only downside is the owner has a few guys work for him but he also does some wrenching so getting him to pick up the phone is spotty sometimes.

Integrated Peformance.

My neighbor always takes his cars (including a Camry & Corolla) to an indy shop by the corner of Riverside & Woodman in Sherman Oaks (located behind the car wash just south of the Ventura Fwy): Armen (818) 590-3202. maybe they have some sort of Armenian connection, but he trusts the guy to be honest, fair, and reasonable. The guy works 7 days a week.

There's also a shop in Canoga Park called Concierge Autoworks @ (818) 993-1800 that an employee's husband recently opened.

Both are all makes and models places.

Mr. Aston-Martin engine rebuilder paid someone to change the cabin air filter?

Sorry to go OT, but local Honda dealer wanted $25 labor to change the cabin filter. It literally took 60 seconds.

The local dealers here charge about $60 (parts + labor).

There are probably tons of shops but Affordable Care, an indy Honda/Toyota shop, has the best rep of ANY shop in L.A., all brands included. Google 'em if you don't believe me. One in Hollywood and one in the valley, if not mistaken.

Can't help you in the San Fernando valley. I use a Toyota specialist in the San Gabriel Valley for 20 years. Both were ex-dealer wrench. Nice honest people. We drop off our cars and they give us the bill unless its in the thousands then they would call. Been doing it this way for a long time now.

+1 for Affordable care. I used to take my wife's Acura Integra (I miss that car) to the Hollywood location back in the day. . . They are honest, hard working and reasonable. They are located on the corner of Gower & Santa Minica.

Good luck,
Michael
