Experience good/bad? SammyG2 - ever use it on your industrial applications?

I used to work in a retail parts place. All of the old-timers swore by it. I've never used it. I've heard that using auto trans fluid was basically the same. Of course, there was a time when people just removed the thermostat from a motor too.
I thought the favorite these days was Sea Foam?

I use a 6 ounce shot in both our cars every 3 months or so, mainly to help counter act that crappy gas we have in CA.
I also use it as one of the ingredients in my black powder muzzle loader lube mixture and it prevents leading in the barrels. |

Use Toluene or xylene - cut straight to the chase.

I swear by it for getting lifters unstuck in an engine that may have sludge or sat for a while. Half a quart, warm up the engine and rev it at 3k rpm - Tick tick tick tick tappedi tick tick ---> MMO ---> crickets ---> change oil, done!
I never burnt it with the gas. I think there it may be more of a snake oil ... G |

I would ask why all the carbon build up first ?
Next for those of us that have done valve jobs, So called carbon removal is one tuff customer. Marvel Mystery like said was a sworn cure for everything at one time. Add it to the diesel, gas, oil. In todays systems i do not think adding to the gas would be a good idea. However i will vote for adding water. Ever seen a engine with a head gskt leak ? That cylinder head has been cleaned !

Techron or Regaine for carbon removal past the injectors. MMO can be used as a top end lubricant or a bottom end detergent. In the gas it essentially turns your fuel into two stroke mixture.

If you are truly looking to remove carbon deposits without a tear down, this proceedure is probably your best shot. BG Findashop - Search for an authorized BG service center near you!
It isn't quite as good as the pictures would suggest, but it will clean the combustion chambers and get a great deal of stuff off the valves. |

______________________ The water goes into a squirt/misting bottle. Warm up the engine, remove the air cleaner/filter and spray the water directly into the carburetor (throttle body now) while varying the engine speed up/down. When the water droplets enter the combustion chamber they are turned into steam by the spark and combustion process. Been doing it to ALL of my engines for decades. Cars, trucks, mowers, weed eaters, etc.

Go figure ! I can honestly say I would not have entertained the thought of using water. Maybe a low boiling point hydrocarbon but I was always under the understanding 'water bad in engine '.
Huh, I feel intrigued |

_____________________ LMAO! Ok - let me explain again. Don't take a F'ing garden hose and stick it into the carb./throttle body and turn it on several turns! Imagine (if you can) a Windex bottle containing water - and you, operating the throttle with one hand and the spray plunger with the other. Bring RPM's up, give the plunger a push, a spritz of water enters the intake, the engine RPM's will drop. Manipulate the throttle until the engine clears (RPM's increase again) then - give it another 'spritz'. Do this maybe half a dozen times. It takes less that two minutes. You are putting, at the most, a few ounces of water in total into the HOT RUNNING engine. Do it a couple of times a year. Simple - efficient. Or just PAY for some magic Mystery Oil. ![]()

Water injection has been used for decades as a way of boosting compression.
Hey doc.... how much toluene do I mix in? And are you mixing into the gas, or the oil?

Gas. But if given the choice for gas go with xylene. Diesel use toluene.
Not much either or your oil film on your rings will get compromised. Calculate about a 500:1 mix ratio - if you look at all the fuel additives they all use them and will say it's used as a carrier solvent but in work I have seen in labs those scents actually do the lions share of the cleaning. Also will boost power according to some papers I've read years ago. |

I have a pint of xylene at the office, now I know how to dispose of it.
Careful with that toluene and xylene. It will give you cancer.

The War Planes of WW2 had H2o injection..The benefits are boundless.
Right now someone somewhere is trying to figure away to inject water in more volume with the combustion stroke . Diesel or gas. It can be added in all engines VIA a small vacume port, small hose. However- If water could be added in significant quantity and not put the fire out it would be a hybrid steam engine . Water has something like the total highest expansion rate of all known materials ( I have been told) dont quote that one. So go to work guys and gals, there is the break through we need.
