Self Assembling Robot

Scientists Develop a Robot That Can Assemble Itself

Actually pretty cool

And so it begins...

Well I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.

I am not really impressed by this. The Mars landers all had to 'unpack' and 'unfold' themselves out of a compact capsule. That was far more a complex robotic set of commands than what they programmed.

If they need to travel to a 2-dimensional world, then ok - you need to start with a flat piece. But as the Mars landers showed - you don't need to start flat!

Agreed, the state of robotics is not progressing at a rate that is worth mentioning.

As well round is a more appropriate shape to begin with than flat.
