What is a trophic cascade and how exactly do wolves change rivers?
 
When wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park in the United States after being absent nearly 70 years, the most remarkable " trophic cascade " occurred.

trophic cascade, an ecological phenomenon triggered by the addition or removal of top predators and involving reciprocal changes in the relative populations of predator and prey through a food chain, which often results in dramatic changes in ecosystem structure and nutrient cycling.

I need some wolves in my part of the foothills. Way too many deer. I like wolves.

Wolves are so cool..... I wish somebody would put a wolf on a T-shirt.
Maybe even 2 or 3 wolves.
And what would be even cooler? Have them howling at a moon.



Naah.... That would just be too much awesomeness for one shirt.

we should start small though....maybe just wolves on tire covers until the general public can absorb the awesomeness....

Or, how about a nearly naked amazon (dressed in leather straps and carrying some kind of a weapon) walking an Indian path with a pet wolf at her heel....during a full moon!

It really points out how destructive deer are. The overpopulation of deer is a real problem everywhere. I don't think wolves are the solution for very many locations. I sure don't want wolves running around here, but the deer population needs to be culled by humans. And no I am not a hunter so I don't want to do it personally.
