From 1986 to 1989 I was a F-100 jet engine mechanic working on F-15's in the USAF at Nellis AFB. We got to do test and eval of prototype engine models. There were a couple of occasions where we got to take a jet with two new engines out to the trim pad and do double afterburner runs. I would get to stand as close to the engines as I could without bursting into flames. I guess I was around 10 feet away. It was louder than the B-1B's that would take off in full AB when they were there supporting various "Flag" exercises.

Zulu F-4s would occasionally scramble & were quite loud if you were on the flight line.

In little club in Destin Fl, saw SRV on Texas Flood tour. Was about 8ft from his amp.
