I'd think one of the more protective cases would eliminate bending, and even the cases you mentioned would largely make the problem go away. There doesn't seem to be a bending problem unless you wear tight pants and sit in a way that tries to fold the phone around your ass, in your hip fold, or around your thigh, none of which can possibly be comfortable.
I use Otterbox type cases so my body will give way before the cased phone does.

So it's again 'put a case on it' to hide the flaws? So much for superior design and hardware. Wow.

Its a flaw if your pants are too tight and you're stupid . . . For the rest of us, no problem.

Something that baffles me - don't they test these things?! Send some phones out in the hands of Apple employees to use daily for a few weeks?

Of course they test them, exhaustively. The usage that leads to bending isn't normal. Not normal to deliberately destroy your phone by bending it in half. Also not normal to cram a big phone into tiny tight pants and fold it with your body mass / weight.
When every new iPhone comes out, people look for ways to destroy it and post videos. Drop "tests", screen hammer "tests", scratch "tests". They always find lots of ways. Smartphones icluding iPhones aren't indestructible, they get broken all the time, the 6/6+ is no different. it is a $700 computer, people treat them like they are $100 because that's what they "paid", and then they learn their lesson. I do think the phone would be stronger if it were thicker, and I'd gladly trade an extra 1/8" for more battery capacity. But most people seem to want thin phones.

Hipsters with skinny jeans are their target demographic, you'd think there would be some focus there.

I've had an iPhone for a number of years and never carried it in my arse pocket, just stupid. You are just looking to damage the product and it doesn't make any difference if it's and iPhone or any other smart phone.
