Not my normal "conversations with my wife thread"

When we moved from NY I sold the 2 Starions, the The TR-8, the Bronco II and the 3000GT which alternated duty with the p-car as my DD.

Saturday I left my phone in the kitchen on silent.

Wander in and see the screen light up.

Missed a call from my wife, apparently she'd tried to call me 4 times in a row.

I call her back.

She says, "you should sell the Tahoe and the Mazda"

Why?

"go find a 3000GT, I miss that car, make sure it's a VR-4".:D

So I'm on the hunt for a White one.

The Mrs and I, sitting in the garage a few weekends ago after the little man went to bed. She's having a glass of wine as I'm quick detailing the 911.

Her: Have you thought of what you want for your 30th birthday yet?

Me: No... I don't need anything.

Her: Well, you want this thing painted back to the original color right?

Me: Yea, but we don't and won't have that kind of scratch for a long time...so I'll keep polishing the red until the Sand Beige comes through :)

Her: Well, you need to get your story straight, because if I'm going to take up a collection and get this thing painted for you, you can't be on the fence. If you are, I'll just send you to 24hrs at Daytona...that'll be easier.

Me: Dropped microfiber onto floor and stared at her with monstrous grin...

My wife wants me to go buy a new Cayman S. I just prefer my 29 year old 911. I suggested she get rid of her Infinity and get a Cayman S. I would only borrow it on occasion. ;)

It looks like there a lot of great wives out there! :)

I agree with you Jim. My wife said, buy the 930 instead of a Honda. I ended up with both a couple of years later.

I have an earlier version of the 3000GTVR4 then that pic. Rocket ship off the line performance with no lag, unlike the 930. Thank goodness for twin turbos. Only thing was, I isn't like the way it handled. A big boat. Still, they are fun. Let us know if you get it.

Awesome cars. A friends mom bought one new. We used to sneak it out occasionally.

Verrrry cool, SM. Can you hazard a guess as to why she misses it enough to put this out there? Just curious.

We sold our house and moved into a nice apt in town about 3 weeks ago. As were were planning for that, the missus said that I should get another Porsche. So a week before we moved, I bought a 2008 Boxster S with 21k miles and sold my turbo miata.

Man this Boxster is awesome!

My missus is definitely a keeper!

She likes the look and it makes all the right noises.

When you live on Long Island you have your nice cars but you will also own a beater / "station car".

That is any vehicle that starts, stops, has heat and AC that you can leave at a train or ferry station or drive into the city and leave and not worry about.

Beater 4WD vehicles, especially the smaller ones have extra value because you can hang a small snow plow during the winter.

I found with the last one that they are extremely finicky when it comes to tires.

The wrong or right tire completely changes everything more so than any other car I've owned.

At a race meeting this year a drivers rolls his 993RSCS in the sand trap after getting punted off on a very fast bend by another brain dead driver. In car camera catches all the action.

I show the footage to my wife after the weekend and she wonders why the roof didn't cave in on the driver. I explain about the full roll cage in his car.

The next bit blows me away.

"Do you have one of them in your car?"

"No" (I do club sprints and motorkhana)

"Don't you think you should?"

Nuf said - it's getting fitted in the next month or two :-)
