So I went to the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta....

I was in town visiting family, and I'd wanted to check this place out since before it opened. You need a reservation to get in, so booked lunch for the family at 356. Really nice. The structure has a great presence when you approach it, and the spaces inside are very well thought out and filled with interesting tidbits of Porsche History.

I didn't plan on doing the track experience this time around, but after seeing it - It's definitely on the list next time I'm up there. For some reason, I thought using your own car on the track was an option, but I confirmed with the staff it is not. Slightly unfortunate, I think it would be even more fun in an aircooled car. That's ok, I'll still be back to do it anyway.

So who else has been there and how did you like it? Any Porsche owner/fan would love it here, I'd recommend it to anyone for a good time.

I had a long layover in Atlanta a few months ago and decided to give it a try. Rented a Cayman and had an absolute blast. For ~$400 you get 90 minutes on the track/skid pad/low friction circuit/slalom with an instructor and can do whatever mix of activities best suits you.

As a way of getting to try a car, learn a little from a pro, or just have some fun while in ATL, I think it is a great deal.

I also did 30 minutes in their simulator. I'd advise doing the simulator before you get in the car, not after; it doesn't quite measure up to the real thing.

Beyond that, I ate in the cafe (quick snack) and toured their small "museum", then popped downstairs to the restoration area where they had some interesting cars being worked on.

In all a great way to spend a half day.

I tried getting in a few months ago when I had spare time in Atlanta. I didn't have an appointment so I tried to make one real quick but I couldn't get through on the phone and they didn't respond to my email until the next day. Kind of pissed me off but I should have been better prepared even though I didn't expect to have spare time.
