i am not a micro manager..but i need to be. VENT!

gah..

i need a vacation. i am on a time sensitive project. we have to be OUT of a creek bed by oct 15. (Rain season). the contractor is not gonna make it.

i ask for paperwork for my files. once. i tell them, i expect everyone to be professional and just follow the specs.

i just looked in the files..nope, nothing, nada..zip. now i have to be the bad guy and hold up a concrete pour. WAH!! i hate having my back pushed against the wall. hate it!!

i'm out..Contractor promised to be in cleanup mode by now..so i scheduled a short vacation with my mom. since her husband died, this is a non negotiable deal..i dont tell my mom NO. she flew out from Texas and we are gonna spend some mom-son-daughter in law time in los angeles.. we have already set up her ma jong games :D

forget these guys..i am not a baby sitter. my coworkers can be the nut crushers.

if i showed you a picture of our project..hahaha..we have all the creek portions of the bridge to pour. in less than 3 weeks. no way, not with how rookie-behaving our contractor is..

vent over..off to a meeting to give them the good news.

Hate to be the one to say it but that's why they pay you the big bucks.

Good reason to include penalties in the list of deliverables and dates

Good luck try to enjoy your down time

enjoy the time with your family down here. They and work will be there to give you a heart attack another time. It aint going anywhere. Its easy for me to ask you to not think about it, but I know you will. It is what responsible people do. I am the same way. So, don't think about work when you are here. Setting up Ma-Jong game across the state is crazy. Talking about planning, you engineers.

Contractor has failed all conditions of government contract.
No bonus.
No pay.

They need a little help/push to get the job done right on time.
Th big hammer.
Offer to assist overseeing the work site, and make sure proper steps are followed.
(Actually, this should be a given at this point)

Use influence to obtain supplemental government workers if necessary.
(Payment can get sorted later.)

If the contractor later wants full payment for services not rendered?
Tough ****.
They had all opportunities available but failed.

I thought only women want to vent, and men just want to fix things?
:D

It's not about the bridge...

Liquidated damages? I always have it in our contracts. Always. I'm not letting some goofball sub blow our schedule because they can't plan their work between jobs better or something.

.

they still get paid.

we had 2 roof top AC units put in years ago. one barely works, the other one NEVER worked. the coil froze everytime it ran. they still got paid and were never held accountable to get it working.

we have cleaners come in to clean the (govt) building. the floors barley get cleaned and as far as waxed and buffed, it has NEVER happened with this contractor. i have seen the same stuff on the floors since they took over.

shall i go on?
