Some images from my Iceland trip

Figured I'd share my Flickr set with you guys.

I'm probably going to be adding more and more to it as the day goes along, so feel free to check back and enjoy!

Great pics. I love Iceland. So much to see in such a small country.

AFC-911 09-24-2014 01:21 PM

I love Iceland! I'm torn between wanting to go in the summer and do the entire Ring Road or going later in the year so I have a chance to see the Northern Lights.

The people are welcoming and are great hosts. Yes, they party hard. But most foreigners are there for nature and adventure.

I cannot wait to go back...My ideal trip would be to pair it as a 7 day stopover from Paris. But New Zealand and a Tahiti stopover is right up there.

Both of course, wouldn't be solo trips like this one was. I consider a solo trip because my Canadian friend was only there for 2 days as a stopover on his way to Nice...And my hitchhiker friends were only with me for a short time as well.

I didn't even get to see much. Only the drive between Reykjavik and Vik plus another trip to Jokulsarlon.

But even then, the roadtrip seems to encompass all sorts of landscapes. It was like someone put the coast of California, the glaciers of Alaska, the geysers of Yellowstone, the barrenness of the deserts of Nevada, volcanoes from Hawaii, the Moon and middle earth all in a blender and the result is this wonderful place.

This place is ridiculously photogenic and a lot of the times, it felt surreal.

What was the hot spring you went to?!

AFC-911 09-24-2014 06:18 PM

For anyone who has this on their list of places to go, know that Icelandair offers a free stopover (up to 7 days) to or from Europe.

Blue Lagoon in Grindavik. It's between the airport and the capital city of Reykjavik.

Iceland! The home of Bjork! and her old band the Sugarcubes.

Great photos!

I recognized Gulfoss and the Blue Lagoon and the cathedral in Rek.
I thought I recognized one of the images as taken on the trip up to Geyser and Gulfoss.
Great people and an amazing country.

If anyone goes, stop in to the geothermal plant about a 1/2 hour east of Rekjavik on Highway 1. 210MW from steam coming out of the ground and the waste heat is piped down to the capitol to heat homes.

Thanks for sharing.
Best

Thanks for the compliments! I was there for 6 days and I feel a very strong urge to go back...Really soon.

Hugh, I'm surprised you haven't been with all the movies being shot there lately!
