From bringatrailer.com. How cool is this. The turbine sound is just awesome!

I had a 1/25 scale model of this car when I was a kid. Kit was by MPC. Anyone else build it?

Yep. I suspect it's still thrown into a box with a bunch of others.
Funny. I was just re-reading an interview with Dr. Dick Thompson (Sports Car International May '95) in which he touched upon driving the Howmet. Great torque off the line, but no clutch nor ignition switch. To shut down, you turned a shut-off valve. When the throttle stuck, he walked away from the crash and the wheels were still spinning!

Is there any engine braking with a turbine car?

Pretty cool and thanks for sharing the clip.

Quite a tidy car when up close. Years back at a R/A historics, had my ur-Quattro out while a Howmet was 'howling' along side. Unlike any sound one would expect on a track. Somewhere in my vid archives have a short clip of it.
