"Car stuff" in Chicago?

The Pelicans were very helpful when I made my road-trip to Road America in July, so I thought I should access the brain-trust again.

My son moved to Chicago a year ago (Lakeview). My wife & I are visiting him this weekend (staying in the northern suburbs), & we will be visiting him a couple times a year.

What "car stuff" is there in Chicago? Go-cart tracks, museums/collections, automotive book/automobilia stores, restaurants to watch F1 races Sunday mornings, cars & coffee events, great classic sports car dealers, cool sports car shops, etc. We are driving, so I will have wheels.

I won't be able to do all of the stuff this weekend, but I will reference your comments for future trips.

Some people from the Chicago area come to Lake Mills in WI for Cars & Coffee the first Sunday of the month 8-11. Last one for this year is Sunday.

The Volo Museum is near McHenry and has collector cars. I have no personal experience with it.

Not many motorsports bars around... The Players Club on Elston is one... F1 always on when live.

Players is closed Chris. It was a good motorsport bar as the owner was into race cars. The women he hired were good looking too.

Whaaaat? I just ran into Mark a few weeks ago... Wonder what he's up to then? Doesn't seem to be short of nice cars....
